Imagination is a curious thing, she thought, wandering down the darkened hallway. Just then, she had imagined that Apollo’s bow had shone with a golden light, sung with it even. But that was preposterous, inanimate objects did not glow. Even she, with her scrambled brain and no memories could be certain at least, of that. The hallway was dark, there was no golden glow to illuminate her way now, just faint strands of light peeking out from under closed doors. Trying a handle to her right, Astrid found the door locked. Did Apollo leave the lamps on in his rooms and then lock the doors? Odd. Then again, Apollo was odd all over, from his gleaming teeth to those too bright blue eyes and that shock of raven black hair. A beauty, yes, but unidentifiable odd.
Extract three; From the Ashes
I know I really recently posted an extract, but I'm genuinely surprised with what I just wrote. So here it is, enjoy!
EDIT; I realise I haven't posted the 'prayer' that it mentions, and just so there's a frame of reference, it's mentioned earlier on, she says it after every death she finds, which unfortunately is a lot of death.
These vessels are now empty, their souls are now free,
Deliver them please, for these are not the lost, but found,
Give them their dreams, their wants and needs,
Thank you spirits, and by these words be you bound.
