XGRA: Extreme G Racing Association (2003) Jakar - Texture rips by Moosh2727
Extreme-G (Probe Entertainment / Acclaim - N64 - 1997)
Which is the best futuristic racing game for the Nintendo 64?
Extreme-G
AeroGauge
F-Zero X
Wipeout 64
Extreme-G 2
Star Wars Episode I: Racer
Despite the fact that around 20% of the N64 library are racing games (or sometimes cars doing other stuff like shooting and destroying things), it is fair to say that many of these games are garbage. When the subject matter is futuristic racing games, though there is a few and quite good ones. Wipeout series is a classic very linked with Sony and Playstation brand, but N64 received the one entry, Extreme-G had their fan base back then when the franchise was still alive, and F-Zero X is an absolute classic, from one of the most iconic Nintendo series. Don't forget to mention the Star Wars Episode I: Racer which is also a very solid game, both from technical and gameplay perspectives. So for this week's pool I want to know which game do you think is the best futuristic racing for the N64. Feel free to share (reblog) and comment.
Starting E with Earthworm Jim 3D this game... so it is a 3D platfomer, with collectables that plays pretty well! so you would think I loved it and finished it 100%....... no, to start with it does the banjo kazooie thing where there is 100 of a collectable and if you die/change stages it only records how many you got no which, so you gotta collect it all again if you want to have all the 100... but that problem was easy to fix, I just made it so I couldnt die with a cheat! Alright so I cleaned up the 2 stages on the first world and then went for the boss fight... the boss fight is a nightmare... the way it works is that, as pictured above, you are on top of a pig surfing on the mud, and the boss it the crow guy on a tank, both of you are trying to collect all 100 of the orbs scattered around the stage, both of you can collect bullets to shoot each other with homing missiles, when hit with you the person drops some of their orbs, the thing is... you gotta collect 100 and there is 100, I got to a point where the crow had only 5 and I kept shooting it and then it would collect them back before i could even get there, i spent half an hour on this and eventually gave up... BUT then I thought "well I cleaned up the stages so maybe I have enough utters (the "star/jiggy" of this game) to go to the next world and skip the boss... nope, I still needed 3 more utters... the boss gives 5... so you are forced to do the boss... and that was the end of the playthrough for me :)
next was ECW Hardcore Revolution one of many wrestling games on the 64! I spent more time on the character creation then the fighting....... I created this monstrosity, a bloody mechanized snowman??? anyway wrestling game! gklhgsdhlkgds
next was Excitebike 64, a successor to the nes game, it is basically a bike racing game, with a turbo button and the whole angling yourself in the air thing, it is fun! it also has some interesting special stages like the desert one above
and then we have Extreme-G and the sequel Extreme-G XG2, putting them together because they are so similar, but both a super fun fast paced racing games, you also have weapons to hit opponents and a boost, very cool would like to play it multiplayer tho... Oh also on the second one you can unlock "super bikes" that are just a giant version of the driver running on foot, and they do cartwheels when boosting lol and... after just 5 games.......

Marina on the Extreme-G khan bike. Extreme-G is on N64 NSO now! I have good memories messing around with cheat codes like "roller" and "nitroid." This is splatoon themed just because.
