Hello, doubt || Closed RP || 10thestrongestdecoy
Hinata was making his way home from the grocery store when the rain had started, and he was a little surprised by the sudden droplets that seeped through his hair. With a little, “Huh,” the redhead rolled back his shopping bag into the crook of his elbow so that he could reach around and pull out his umbrella. As he walked, the crowd around him thinned out along with the noise, leaving him alone with the thick taps of the raindrops on the umbrella.
It was kind of relaxing, the drumming sound of the rain, and it even lulled Hinata into some odd dreamy state. If he was daydreaming, he had no idea what about and if it was pleasant or not, but he suddenly “woke up” so to speak, due to a voice hitting his ears.
Kageyama’s voice of all people’s.
The redhead found himself turning on his heel to face the raven, an eyebrow raised at his state. Who was he talking to? That’s what Hinata wanted to know. However, the way that Kageyama suddenly faced and stared at him, he felt as though the they weren’t exactly meant for anyone at all - an odd accident in a way.
"Hey!" Hinata suddenly gasped, darting right up to him. He thrusted his umbrella up and over him, making a face. "You’re gonna catch a cold just standing in the rain like this, Kageyama." Burnt orange locked onto navy blue, and Hinata realized that it wasn’t just rain that laced his pale featues. "Are you crying?" he added, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise.
The only emotions he had ever seen from the raven were either complete seriousness, rage, or determined excitement. He had never seen Kageyama cry.
Unable to penetrate the small umbrella Kageyama and Hinata were stationed under, the rain curved to make a dome around the two. He had been caught in the moment while he was alone, but with the presence of another person beside him, embarrassment and doubt crept it's way into his mind. He felt as though he was being analyzed- deconstructed bit by bit like a machine.
"I-I'm not. It's just rain." He lied, the conviction in his voice meager. It was useless to lie- the fact had he had been crying was painfully obvious. Kageyama turned his back on the other in a weak attempt to hide his emotions- unlike Hinata, Kageyama wasn't one to wear his heart on his sleeve. Allowing his damp charcoal hair to shroud his eyes, Kageyama wiped his face with his forearm. He felt a sudden rage constrict in his chest.
"I know my limits, dumbass!" He snapped, lashing out at Hinata for having dared seen him in such a vulnerable state. Kageyama silently berated himself for opening up such a sensitive area of himself in public. His heart pumped loudly and quickly, the anticipation of being so emotionally exposed to his closest friend burning down his composure efficiently like newspaper- crackling and sparking, crumpling down inside itself until it was but mere ashes. His breathing was thick and heavy and his raw throat seemed to stick when he swallowed. His chest tightened- he felt like he couldn't catch his breath- all of which were consequences of the yell he had let out earlier, along with the unexpected visit he had just received.
Kageyama's hands were clammy and restless. He cracked his fingers nervously, repeatedly rubbing the pad of his thumb coarsely against his index finger in an attempt to rid of the aching anxiety that swallowed him. He couldn't take the silence.
"What'd... you see." He mumbled quietly, unable to bring himself to make eye contact with Hinata. The lightness he had felt earlier had long since faded, being replaced with a sick feeling that nestled itself in the pit of his stomach.
The two boys were usually fighting and making fun of eachother- but Kageyama wasn't sure how far Hinata was willing to take it. Was this just another joke to him? Would he laugh at him for his display of emotion?
Kageyama waited with baited breath under the small umbrella. Each drop seemed to heighten his anxiety- to build up a rage he wished would just disperse. He didn't want to crack- break apart and burst and just scream at Hinata or swing a fist he couldn't control- Kageyama knew himself, knew his lack of self-control. He knew he wouldn't be able to hold it in if Hinata took advantage of him in his weak state of mind.
But he didn't want to lose his best friend- not like this.
Not like this.
