was thinking about how marlo has developed, metatextually, over the years. at the time they preferred not to wear the eyepatch out of some warped sense of self-loathing; i can't remember how old they were supposed to be but i don't think it was more than 19. terrifying.
it was also the first time they dressed in button-ups/more formally than hoodies and shorts, but under a very different context. which is to say: even the objectively bad parts of their story that got scraped had a lasting effect on their character. i eventually stuck with the eyepatch because it was easier to draw. in both canons, the old and modern, marlo got shot by an octosniper aged 17 while very, very deep in the domes and panicked and tried to remove the enemy ink manually. it. uh. didn't work.
