After quite a while of them just being on my Twitter, Rique and Mort are finally being introduced to my tumblr! And in such a glorious way too- the squad’s all here!
I was inspired to draw this after me and @dorklyevil joked that Rique would be strong enough to carry the entire squad on his shoulders AHAHAHA Conclusion: he would be, but he would struggle a bit! However, he’s keeping a pained smile, just for his little buddy.
Rique works as a bouncer for nightclubs in the citadel, and it was because of that, that he came to know Rikiki and Ricky, and consequently through them, he came to know the Scarpatch family.
Rique is very strong Rick, and while at work, he is stone-faced and unmoving- nothing can get passed him. However, once his shift’s over, his next stop is the hospital, to pay visits to his Morty, whom he affectionately refers to as ‘buddy’ or ‘star’. Mort is a fragile Morty, and has been ever since he was young. He’s almost always hospitalised for one reason or another, but he always has his Papa beside him to support him. He’s very tired and weak, doesn’t get outside much, he’s half-deaf due to catching pneumonia when he was little and he’s an older Morty, almost 17, but his mental age is much younger and so he acts more like a young child. His Papa Rique speculates that that is the reason why his family gave up on him, because they couldn’t handle how his mind worked and were too impatient with him.
Mort’s dream is to go on space adventures with his Papa, like all the other Ricks and Mortys do, and Rique promises him that he will take him on all the space adventures that he wants, once he gets well.
As well as Rique, the squad regularly comes to visit him. <3
Oh, and if your wondering why Ricky is squawking like a parrot, it’s because he’s a silly grandpa and just wants to make Mort smile even more. On Rique’s shoulders, Rikiki and Ricky are like his fab parrots AHAHAHADFGHFGH
