Me: pssssh, my art style isn't "anime" Me after doing this meme: .... Well maybe it's a little anime ovo; This meme was quite EYE opening, haha get it? *gets shot* No but for real, I used to think that having a anime-ish art style was a detrement, or that I didn't really have a unique drawing style, but I'm beginning to realize that if you know the fundamentals of art, and are not just copying someone else's art style, who cares if your art style resembles anime? There are so many animated films and shows influenced by anime, as well as comics, so it's pretty difficult to just turn my brain off to conventions that I like and that have influenced my art. I have been told throughout my time in university that my style isn't "personal" enough. And while I most definitely can draw in any style, my favourite to default to will always look anime. It's not a crutch, it's a reflection of years of influences, and if that's not personal enough, I don't know what is.
