HÆLOS the mysterious trio behind this beautiful track which got bloggers all in a frenzy and hyped to the max on Hype Machine at the end of last year are playing their first gig on 4th March at Oslo Bar in Hackney.
It's promoted by Eat Your Own Ears who always sell out so grab a ticket here whilst you can ...
Eat Your Own Ears @ the Roundhouse - Teleman
Second to last were Teleman - who out of all the bands playing on the night were the ones that came across as those most likely to make it big.
They actually sound almost retro, as in they sound like a lot of the self-consciously kooky bands that were around in the noughties. They remind me of Whitest Boy Alive, since their songs have an underlying groove whilst also having a sense of measured restraint. Songs like their new single ‘Cristina’ went down very well with the crowd and their fantastically poppy songs are clearly ready for a mainstream audience.
Eat Your Own Ears present Handpicked - the Roundhouse Main Space plays host to a Friday night showcase of some of the most interesting new bands. Experience the insider tips from the people who brought you Florence and the Machine, The xx, SBTRKT, The Horrors and Grimes, all in the unparalleled space of the Roundhouse, in collaboration with CIFD Presents. Tickets: £5 - Available for purchase here! NZCA/Lines aka Michael Lovett, a maker of suave, synth pop, combining sparkling melodies with R&B beats, and lush arrangements with multilayered harmonies. Shimmering slices of dream pop create a future world rooted in timeless magic. It’s partly that timeless quality that makes the music feel so good, a diverse lineage that stretches back to the Beach Boys, and zooms into the future, taking in The Neptunes, Junior Boys, Timbaland and Bogdan Raczynski along the way. Teleman’s songcraft is second to none, creating exquisite pop tunes that instantly spark musical curiosity. Their sonorous brew of guitar, drum and synths and innate ability for songwriting won their single ‘Christina’ numerous radio plays from 6Music’s Steve Lamacq, Tom Ravenscroft and Marc Riley, and comparisons to Belle and Sebastian and The Magnetic Fields. Dark Bells spin a beguiling web of haunting yet melodic sounds built on the bricks of post-punk with the atmosphere of an act you might have found on 4AD in 1983, where melancholy vocals and swirling drones hover above hypnotic soundscapes. Inhabiting their own beautiful, ethereal corner of the musical universe, poised exquisitely at the crossroads between the soaring soundscapes of Spiritualized and naive pop melodies, new UK band Paradise are an absolutely sublime proposition. East India Youth’s album Total Strife Forever won the emphatic support of The Quietus and The 4o5 who were both blown away by the album’s brilliance, two years in the making in William Doyle’s bedroom studio. Time Out described East India Youth as Tim Hecker-esque electronic soundscapes and Byrne-and Bowie-indebted whimsical pop, and one to watch out for in 2013. FEWS are a brand new 4-piece band from Gothenburg, Sweden via Brooklyn. You haven't heard of them yet but you're going to soon. They're like a punked up mix of Diiv, Wild Nothing and Interpol, and good enough to pull it off! Double Denim DJs are the perfect backbone to a night of new music, having released sellout runs of the first records for Star Slinger, Stay + and Zulu Winter, among other critically approved acts. Expect Friday night tunes for the discerning dancer, their ears are some of the best in the business. CIFD presents are a new generation of Music Event and Broadcast Producers from the UK’s first Creative Industries degree run by City University, London in connection with the Roundhouse, Camden.
