B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

When I write characters with anxiety, I use my own experiences to characterize them and describe how they feel. For example, Dabi’s stress dreams in Between the Lines are born out of my experiences with stress dreams. “At least if he’s awake, he can’t have more nightmares.” :T “Dabi’s been increasingly on edge, which has only fueled his nightmares to greater proportions.”

ALSO this: “A nauseating cocktail of emotions was poisoning Dabi’s mind. He hated that Hawks had found him weak and exposed. Hated that the concern in Hawks’ eyes hurt. Hated that making Hawks worry knotted his stomach. Hated that the reaction that came most easily to him was to lash out defensively. Hated that part of him wanted to let Hawks in. Let Hawks help. Hated it. All of it, but mostly… he hated that he couldn’t help himself. Hated that he needed help at all.” This is really reflective of my own situation.

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

Deff the fantasy au.. either Hawks’ backstory, Dabi’s, OR their daydreaming about the lives they want. I can’t decide. Actually, no.. deff them daydreaming. That hurt my heart real fuckin bad.
