Altaïr and Malik are two dumbasses who would have hanahaki for each other and hide it from everyone, creating a torturous loop of the two of them knowing their love for one another and believing the other would never love them back.
Leonardo would have to suffer through the hanahaki and Ezio would figure it out but he won't realize that he's the one causing it so Ezio would be trying to save Leonardo by looking for the one that dared not love Leonardo while Leonardo will take it to his grave.
It's really sweet how in the books Leonardo remembers Ezio's birthday

one of my favorite fanfic tropes is fake dating, and i keep thinking about an ezioleo modern au where after some public fiasco, the Auditore family wants to improve their public image by holding an LGBTQ charity ball and they want one of the kids to bring a same-sex partner to it...I imagine the conversation like
Federico: Mama wants one of us to be bisexual for the charity ball. Not it.
Claudia: Not it.
Ezio: Not- damn it, why do I always have to be bisexual??
