Me: the demonization of queer people is a horrible trope in fiction. It's awful when the only queer characters are evil and the mirror universe in Star Trek is a really annoying example of this, especially considering how progressive Trek is supposed to be

Quark gulped nervously. She heard it and knew he was anxious, but she was not in the mood to talk to him at that moment.
“Quark,” she said, frustrated. “There are a lot of feelings for me to sort out right now. Yes I’m mad at you and that’s bringing up all these memories from Jadzia and-”
“I’m not here to ask you to be my friend or my lover again,” Quark interrupted. Ezri raised her eyebrows. He was wringing his hands.
Her brow furrowed as she watched him start to get down on his knees. “What are you doing?”
Quark fell to his knees and put the end of his palms together in a Ferengi sign of respect. “I came to say I’m sorry for what I did,” he said. “And to ask you a.... question.”
Ezri nodded. “Go ahead.”
Quark took a deep breath, then looked up at her. “Ezri Dax, will you be my therapist?”
Erzi was so shocked that she almost had to sit down. She reached out for a chair behind her, but there wasn’t one. Quark never expressed much interest in therapy, even when Jadzia suggested it a few times. “This is not at all how I pictured your apology would go.”
“So you knew I would apologize?”
Ezri smiled. ”Of course I did. We always make up, eventually,” she reached out her hand, which he took. She helped him stand back up. “But this time, yes, I will be your counselor.”
Quark returned to wringing his hands awkwardly. “I don’t actually know how this is supposed to work.”
“Don’t worry, Quark,” Ezri said. “We’ll take it at your own pace.”
