How did you feel about Jadzia being replaced with Ezri? Were you still actively working on the show at the time? Any insights about the situation you'd find worth sharing?
I was a little bummed honestly. I loved the character and Terry's take on her. I wasn't working on the show at the time, but knowing the way things work in TV, I figured Ira and Co. were having to deal with a behind the scenes issue. I gather now there was indeed some stuff that forced the writers' hands, though that's not really my story to tell.
I did enjoy coming back and writing an Ezri episode in Season Seven, because I'd never written that version of the character. I liked Nicole De Boer's performance as Ezri, and she did a great job on "Field of Fire."
Other than that, I don't really have much perspective on the change.
would they have a driver's license (ds9 edition)
sisko: yes. overall a good driver. serious about "defensive driving" and believes everyone should know how to drive manual in a pinch. gets annoyed when people don't respect zipper merging
kira: she got one as an adult after a few attempts, but was definitely driving both cars and other vehicles/equipment illegally as a young teen and had to rein in some of those "seat-of-the-pants" driving habits
jadzia: yes and is a pretty good driver but has collected a few speeding tickets over the years
o'brien: yes and somehow ended up de facto driver's ed instructor for other ds9 folks trying to get one. it is very stressful
worf: yes and is a solid driver overall but the road rage is crazy when people cut him off or drive like assholes
bashir: yes. aced the written exam and knows all the rules well, but you CANNOT talk to or argue with him while he's driving or he becomes a distractible terror on the road
odo: yes and abides by traffic laws and speed limits perfectly (some may say pettily) which ironically makes him a bit of a hazard at times
ezri: no and she's scared to get one, but wants to eventually
quark: license chronically suspended
nog: similar to kira. got one later (after instruction from sisko and o'brien) and is a very good driver now but was an absolute menace on the roads as a teen
rom: yes but drives slow as hell and causes traffic jams that make him anxious so he drives even slower
I just want you all to know that every time I reblog an image of Jadzia Dax or Ezri Dax I DO tag it separately like #Jadzia and #Dax so we shant ever forget the worm is also there
Shout out the rebels. They were hopeless, they were beaten down. People in the utopia dismiss their world as intrinsically evil.
But they stood up. They fought back.
Feel like this energy is needed right now
Kittycat...
my (mostly unserious) vision for post-ds9 ezriworf friendship is that she eventually starts working on like, the equivalent of a class action lawsuit against the symbiosis commission and every so often he'll show up on trill for emotional support and they get coffee and she vents about how grueling the whole thing is and he encourages her and tells her she's fighting valiantly for justice. and the symbiosis commission (who are keeping tabs on her) are like. why is the number one threat to our operation regularly meeting with the klingon ambassador. what in gods name are they planning
