Ezzo and Otto's denial of being like Roswaal is incredibly funny to me, so I had to draw a picture. The second drawing is how I'd like to imagine Ezzo would have reacted to finding out about Roswaal's wrong doings from the Let's Keep a Harsh Eye on Roswaal alliance. I'll just say these take take place before the most recent events in the novel.

And below the cut are some drawings that I did in light of the most recent chapters pertaining to Ezzo and Roswaal. These are based on the events of chapter 48 and 49 of arc 9.

Oh how the tables have turned! I do wonder if Ezzo is doomed for something terrible to happen to him like the last guy who got compared to Roswaal (or well I guess the other guy is the happiest he's been in months - at what cost though). Anyways, can't wait to see Ezzo do possibly something even more terribly self destructive or aid Roswaal's machinations or something else! Definitely going to have these two stuck in the back of my head for the foreseeable future

So for context for anybody who just reads/watches main story rezero, Ezzo is a side story character who joins the Felt camp and takes up a role similar to Otto as an internal affairs minister. He’s a dwarf with strong magical ability, which I’ll get into in a bit.

Ezzo to me is just a massive nerd whos a very earnest guy, able to go from being a walking dictionary to probably one of my fave scenes in the Felt camp side stories as he’s seriously injured. His whole onesided rivalry with Roswaal is so funny to me, especially how he keeps getting annoyed with Garfiel and then they bond over both hating him for very different reasons. He just wants to get more titles Roswaal has a monopoly on, poor dude.

He’s just so fun to read. In the Priestella Reconstruction Journals he starts shaking Liliana and rambling about bards and history (he’s just like me) and keeps butting heads with Garf over their contrasting personalities.

Riot in Flanders first has you pity him as Camberley gets him working for a brothel, but you genuinely realise he’s a hardworking earnest guy. Teaches prostitutes to read and write, something he still does when he joins the Felt camp. I won’t spoil the SS, I strongly recommend people read it, but Ezzo to my knowledge is the only guy ever to “damage” Reinhard in some capacity. He uses an attack to counteract Rein and is able to remove two of his jacket buttons, though at great cost to himself.

I think the appeal for me is how he’s a mix of Joshua’s rambling and fixation on certain topics, with Otto’s unlucky nature, and some of his own earnestness that he’s not afraid to compromise on. A lot of characters with a sense of honesty about them tend to avoid things like revenge, but its really refreshing that he is fully willing to do anything to stick it to the people that did something to a person he cared about.
