This was supposed to be birthday art, but I'm two weeks late. Ah. For this piece, I wanted to draw him something different than his usual knight uniform since I thought it would fit better with the action of reading a book, and I imagine he wears different outfits every once in a while when he's at home. Fun fact: Julius is farsighted, so he has reading glasses. Also, the book he's reading is mentioned in Ex: 4 when Vincent starts quoting from the text, and Julius is the only one out of the group (consisting of him, Ferris, and Reinhard) who understands the reference. I also added the scar he gains from arc 6 that I usually forget about, but it's barely visible under the glasses. Side note: I tried to do something different with the shading, and I think it worked. I'm proud of this drawing :D

I also got these two days ago, and I'm very happy. They're super cute! Julius's box was extra wide because of his cape, lmao.

It’s a little embarrassing for me to talk about considering why it happened in the first place 😅, but at the start of 2025 I injured my dominant arm by cramming about a weeks worth of physical writing into 3 hours the day I had to turn the assignment in (you can laugh). Ever since then, it’s been difficult for me to write and draw for prolonged periods of time without experiencing intense pain in my forearm. I went to the doctor at that time, and they said there wasn’t anything they could do about it besides giving me an arm brace (which has been very helpful). Overall though, I’ve kind of just been dealing with it because there was nothing else I could do about it.

It definitely got a lot worse this year since the majority of my classwork was on paper. One big change was that about month ago I started having pretty bad wrist pain alongside the forearm pain. Fast forward to recently, and after I want to say 3 hours of drawing, the pain is genuinely so unbearable that I have to put down my stylus. But because I have an unshakable will 😔, I end up drawing with my finger because it hurts a lot less.

I mostly only use my finger for the rendering process, and a side effect of that is losing all pen-pressure, which severely takes away from my art. It makes everything look flat, and I hate it a lot 😭. The worst example of this is my Julius birthday art from this year. I was in so much pain when drawing it, but I didn’t want it to be any later than it already was, so I just powered through it and made artistic choices that I would never make during normal circumstances. When I posted it to tumblr I know I said I had fun working on it, but what I meant is that I had fun working on the background 😭😭😭. It’s just really frustrating for me to want to keep drawing at my best but being unable to.

I don’t tend to post about my life all too much except funny stories here and there, but I feel like sharing this in light of the quality of my artwork swinging back and forth. 😭

Yorna wip! + art ramblings below 👀

At the beginning of the year I think I said I wanted to focus on more interesting pieces and backgrounds, and I’ve come to realize that my expressions on my characters suuuuck. I like drawing characters lalala happy and what not, so this is an attempt to show a little bit more! A little bit. Just a little.

Another thing that’s haunted me since I was a fledgling artist is that whether or not you’re right/left handed impacts the direction in which your characters face a lot. And because I don’t draw characters facing forward anymore (I can’t draw the nose 😗) sometimes I go through my gallery and it’s the same 3/4 angle facing the left for like 10 pieces straight. Ugh! She’s so right handed it’s showing through her art! Disgusting! So yeah 🥹 I switch it up from time to time.

I think this piece in particular takes a little inspo from wuwa art because, even if the game isn’t for me, the artwork is drop dead gorgeous EVERY single time.

In other news, this is the most fun I’ve had drawing in a while! I think probably since January, which is coincidentally the last time I drew a cityscape. I really like doing modern environments, so it’s unfortunate that re:zero’s setting makes that difficult lol. I do need to vary the perspective for my cities more though 🙂‍↕️

I’ve always liked angel and demon AUs and I like to think about how if Julius was one Reinhard would probably kill him

Anyways in 2025 I tried to really focus on backgrounds and tackling more complex pieces, so now in 2026 I think I’m allowed to use the smudge tool again!!! I will be using it responsibly this time.
