Did you know that the Convair F-102 Delta Dagger, popularly known as “The Deuce”, was the world's first supersonic all-weather jet interceptor and the USAF's first operational delta-wing aircraft? It was also one of the first aircraft to feature a passive infrared search and track (IRST) system.

Did you know that the F-102, despite being USAF's first supersonic interceptor and serving in an actual shooting war, never managed to score a single air-to-air kill? In 1962, four F-102s were sent to Saigon to chase slow, low-flying intruders, presumably NVAF Il-28s. The USAF had the Deuce, and it wanted to use the Deuce, without realizing that an aircraft designed to hunt Soviet strategic bombers at 50,000 ft would be hilariously, painfully unsuited for chasing light (shadow) bombers at low level. 1/2
