The US once tried developing a missile specifically to hunt Mach 3 MiG-25 Foxbats: the (X)AIM-97 Seekbat.

With dual radar and IR seekers, it would hit targets 90 km away up to 24km altitude, but it weighed a massive 600 kg (1.33x an AIM-54 Phoenix).

26 May 1961. Convair B-58A-10-CF Hustler, s/n 59-2451, of the 43rd Bombardment Wing, Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, Texas, flew from Washington, D.C. to Paris in 3 hours, 39 minutes, 49 seconds, at an average speed of 1,048.68 mph.

The Convair YB-60 was a prototype heavy bomber intended for the USAF in the early 1950s. It was a purely jet-powered,swept wing development of Convair's earlier mixed-power B-36 Peacemaker. The more modern YB-52 was chosen instead.

The Convair Kingfish, was a proposed Mach 3 recce platform to replace the U-2 spy plane in the late 1950s. The US Government chose Lockheed's own A-12 design, which evolved into the SR-71 Blackbird. The Kingfish didn't leave the drawing board, which is probably a shame?

Unititled as customary with the operator, the Convair turned freighter sits on the ramp of Florida Aircraft Leasing, an ACMI provider for ad-hoc freight missions in the Caribbean.

On a side note: N4826C is a former Delta Air Lines aircraft, and that carrier used a dark blue line across the windows, framed by two red lines that all formed a flash-like angle across the passenger door - or basically an inverted version of the livery worn by her in the picture above where red and blue just have traded places. That design however was not Florida Aircraft Leasing's work, but this "inverted" Delta livery was applied long before when she served as a corporate aircraft for Dow Jones & Company in the mid 1970s.
