one thing i appreciate about the show, even in all it's over the top action-melodramaness, is that fu yixiao has some type of mental illness. like all the leads are deeply traumatized from their fucked up childhoods, but she has full on mental and emotional breakdowns each time she remembers her childhood in the death camps, and after her head injury (but before she knows xia jinshi tried to kill her) she has these...episodes, i guess, where she hallucinates she's in danger and actually fights thin air. and each and every time something like this happens to her, feng suige is there to calm her, keep her from hurting herself or others, hold her, support her, center her, and take care of her.
my favorite thing about them is how they recognize one another and protect each other, but my second favorite thing is definitely this, that yixiao is sick--both mentally and physically--and neither is feng suige put off by it nor is it used to label her as weak; but instead feng suige just takes care of her without making it a big deal, and because this is an action-melodrama that's more concerned with blood feuds, political intrigue, wind blowing machines, and loud music, the show doesn't make it a big deal either.
