sorry if this is rude but kinda confused why u would collaborate with that person as opposed to like another artist? for obvious reasons not sending to the blog but idk theyre a bit annoying and cant really do anything for the art 😭 tho idk them personally
I’m too fucking tired for this man what do you expect me to say to this. Genuinely what was your expected outcome. Is this. Is this ragebait. Or. I’m. Dude whatever.
Yeah no hate her. Hate her. Collaborating with her for shits and giggles really. Clearly I’m incapable of judging my friends for myself as a grown adult and will immediately agree and side with a random tumblr anon over someone I’ve known for three years. Also as we all know there could be no other conceivable department in an extremely narrative-based and dialogue-heavy show apart from the art department. I’m just gonna pull up the canvas and make up the whole episode as I go along, really. The VAs are just gonna have to guess what to say. The storyboardists can suck it and pull every scene out of their asses. And the direction? No yeah thats just a title. Not like we do anything. I just can’t think of a single department we may need apart from art 🤔 Oh well sure it’s not important.
You’re absolutely not sorry if this was rude because you sent the fucking ask.
I don’t know what the fuck your problem is, but regardless of whatever stupidly baseless idea you think you have of her character from a couple of ironic tumblr posts, Charlie is a phenomenally intelligent writer, an incredible, attentive friend and a fantastic co-director. We are on exactly the same page in this, and she is one of the only people I have ever known whom I have been able to talk to, been not only matched but legitimately challenged on the same intellectual level and ended far better for it. She has opened my eyes in so many areas of life wherein before I never would have looked, and I know now a fuller world having met her. Her taste in media, especially in film, is absolutely incredible and cultivated and I have absolutely every possible, conceivable confidence in her influence on the show only being able to be a positive one. She knows this text inside out and this project would not exist without her phenomenal motivation and talent, she has done more for the progress of the show than you can imagine, I’d be lost without her and could not be more proud to be called her friend, as is the case for many, many other people. She built the damn house, who the fuck are you bro?
FRANKENSTEIN 1818 INDIE ANIMATED PILOT & ART ASK BLOG!
as directed by @can-of-w0rmz & @dykensteinery (Lonely Doll Productions)
Tired of big name film-makers distorting classic literature? Want to see Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's original Frankenstein truly brought to life for once? Look no further!
The Modern Prometheus offers a visual adaptation of the Frankenstein 1818 novel (with some bits from the less known, author-annotated 1823 text) that stays loyal to the themes of the novel! to us, these include, but are not limited to:
disability & mental illness
motherhood: post partum depression/psychosis
corruption of the justice system
gender (subversion of roles & here we are attempting a narratively transfeminine victor frankenstein)
abuse & cycles
Ask Blog!
We’re hosting a chance to interact with our cast of characters themselves! For a limited amount of time, you can send an ask to this blog addressed to any character you’d like and we’ll respond with them in art. Have fun!

Indie animation
At the moment, Patreon is our main source of funding. As we are just beginning, most benefits for the higher tiers will be concept art and test animations, but expect things like early animation, storyboards and exclusive art in the future!
You can start supporting for as low as £5 per month and get Discord access, but we recommend getting into our "Birth to our Creation" and "It's Alive!" tears to have early access to our stuff.
Kickstarter campaign hopefully starting soon, which will be our actual source :)
We Need Animators!
This is a paid position—if you are an animator that is interested, send an email to [email protected] with any examples of your work! We’ll review your submission when we begin the script, and be in touch to discuss further details if you are accepted.
To avoid confusion, our initial, general artist applications have been closed. Please do not send any further applications to that original email.

Hello! I wanted to query you about the new Elizabeth design (which is stunning btw) and what thought process led to her becoming a brunette. Not complaining obv, just a different take, because she's described as blonde in the book (iirc)
Not in 1818, which we are adapting in specific:
Why not transmasc Victor? More popular.
We do not believe it to be particularly well-supported by the text, and it contradicts many of our points and analyses that we, at least personally, wish to cover in our adaptation — we are approaching the text with an emphasis on the cycle of abuse in accordance with hyper-traditional (to the point of ironic perversion) gender roles specifically, for one, which simply doesn’t work with the concept of Victor being afab.
We also recognise the consistent overlooking of transfemininity when it comes to the topic of identity and questions surrounding gender, especially prolific in Indie, and although our take will likely be more nuanced and subtle within the bounds of the narrative and maintaining novel-accuracy than other projects looking at similar subject matter, we hope to add to that conversation in some way and have our interpretations in the open for anyone who needs them, to connect with and enjoy. We also do not aim to remove any connection transmasc readers had with the original narrative by any means — the core topic subverting gender will still be present for anyone who wishes to engage with it, and the fact that we are approaching some aspects of Victor’s character from a transfeminine lense shouldn’t detract from the relatability of such a topic to a transmasc viewer. If anything, we hope our interpretations will connect both parties through those mutual experiences.
what r the creatures pronouns:3
We will ourselves refer to the Being with "he" (and the occasional "it"); we read the Being's masculinity as something central to the narrative and feminist themes of the novel. Before he is marginalised, he is a man, and this understood gender appears to impact his view of the world and other people.
We're most active on this platform, but you guys should follow our Twitter and Instagram too!
We've opened a Youtube channel, where when the time comes the concept trailer for our Frankenstein adaptation alongside other short animations and eventually the pilot episode shall be posted. :)
