( sms. ) I don't know what happened, you haven't been answering my calls and I'm honestly very worried. I know I have been lacking as a friend, school and work hasn't been good to me lately and I apologize for not being here but hey, hey, hey. I love you, okay? Don't you forget that, and call me if you need anything, please.
Several missed calls and read messages left unanswered, to be precise.
Her phone rested in her hand, her thumb scrolling through everything that was put aside. Work had been mean on her side as well. The release of her song caused several holes in her schedules to be filled at the last minute. Radio shows, interviews, songs promotions through festivals, events and street performances, and more. Everything seemed to be erratic all of a sudden, but the soloist wasn’t complaining. In fact, she was pleased with that.
At least, she could keep her mind from running in places that were now temporarily forbidden to visit.
The reminder of affection brought a faint smile to her thin lips. A genuine one, for once. It had been difficult to express happiness without spending an inconsiderate amount of energy. Seo Ah also loves Seulgi. A lot. And she could help, but feel a mixture of guilt and thankfulness towards her.
Seo Ah lacked as a friend too. She wasn’t of any help. She hadn’t given signs of life at all. She simply went about, doing her own things, in hopes that her act would patch up the cracks of her heart. Things would fall into place soon, right? If not paying attention too much, if searching bits of happiness elsewhere rather than dig the one fading with the memories, maybe, maybe, she would feel better eventually.
Avoidance wasn’t the greatest solution. Isolation was certainly worse, but her tolerance and strength weakened over time. A break, she kept reminding herself, it was just a simple break…
The pleats of the blanket moved along with her gestures. The singer finally sat up, adjusting her posture while dusting off the sand particles on her. The sound of waves hitting the shore intensified in comparison to earlier, when the night sky proudly presented its brightest stars. There wasn’t much to admire anymore. At the horizon, hues of oranges made their appearance.
It was time to go. She must fix her bad habits and a call was not appropriate for a sincere apology.
Instead of returning home, she would have a ride to a place she hadn’t gone for a while. A coffee shop to be exact.
A visit to her dearest friend was the least she could do to amend her wrongdoings.
