I like to imagine that the German language was created by a bunch of absolutely shit-faced dudes sitting in a room together. Like they were working on numbers and got to 5 and said, "Let's make it that sound Joey made when that guy at the bar punched him square in the diaphragm." Then the rest of the world just accepted that, and here we are. That's a really funny thought.
