The comments have, mixed emotions about me joining the team come next year and, to be honest, I get it. Oscar's a great guy, and I do feel bad, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to make it to where you want to be. As well, Lando is like an older brother to me. Annoying and easily getting on your nerves, but fun.

Currently, I'm laying on the couch in the living room inside of mine and my boyfriend, Ollie's, Monaco apartment and waiting for him to wake up. It was a big night last night, celebrating us both getting into F1. Me on McLaren, him in Haas.

We've just been chilling out over the past few weeks and it's finally the day that we catch up with some of the grid for next year.

These people being Lando (obviously), Kimi (obviously), Carlos, and Charles. I will admit, I've never actually met Carlos in person somehow, even though he's like, besties with Lando or something. But whatever, I'm meeting him today, so that's great!

I soon hear Ollie coming down the hallway, all dressed and ready to go, thankfully, and with a yawn from him, I grab his hand and head out.

Being so hungry, I just can't wait for some breakie.

Well, that day went smoother than I thought it would go, but I loved it! But, I am also happy to back in the nice warm comfort of my and my boyfriend's apartment. It was a wild day out, that's for sure. It did somehow turn out to be a full day endever around this beautifully magical place.

The guys, that being: Lando, Kimi, Carlos, and Charles took Ollie and myself around Monaco all day long, heading through different parks and landmarks, strolling by the water, going to a nice restaurent for both lunch and dinner. Also, in amongst all of that, I managed to convince each boy to take a duo shot.

I can only imagine how hard it must be for Charles and Carlos to be parting from each other as the Monégasque is sticking with Ferrari, being joined by the 7 time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, whilst the Spaniard is off to Williams with Alex Albon.

Snorting, I glance up to my love as he enters back in from the kitchen, two fruit bowl in hand, "Ollie," he hums back to me, plopping down beside me, "You can't just randomly say beautiful online. Remember, only the F1 and some of the F2 drivers know of our relationship," I scold the older boy.

He just flicks through the TV as he eats a piece of apple, "Well, I did say beautiful people, not beautiful person," He speaks teasingly, "And besides," he starts, setting down the remote after clicking to a random channel, "You're not beautiful." I just gasp, and my mouth drops, but before I can retaliate, he quickly adds in, "You're stunning and the most amazing human being to ever walk this planet and the solar system." This just makes me want to cry, but he doesn't stop there.

"And besides," he turns his body to me, now muting the TV and looks into my glassy eyes, "You came first in the F2 championship this year, beating me, beating Dino, beating Arvid, beating all the boys. Proving them all wrong that gender doesn't matter in this sport or any. You prove that to people every day, to fans and to the haters. You never truely let that get to you either. Hell, you're not even a selfish person after everything," this makes me let out an airy laugh, "You're the most selfless person ever. You do what you can for charities and everyone and everything, standing up for what is right. Y/n, I've known you for as long as I can remember, been in love with you for as long as I can remember, and this has been one of, if not the, greatest years of my life. I get to spend moments like this with you in a place like this. I get to drive with you next year, might not be on the same team, but we'll both be there, together. Hand in hand. Forever. I love you y/n, forever and always."

The tears don't stay at all as he rants. Who would've thought that my one comment would lead to this? During the F1 winter break, after we're both announced to different teams and everything alongside, some of our best mates.

As Ollie hands me my own fruit bowl, I snuggle up beside him and breathe him in as he unmutes the TV and switches over to Netflix to find us a good show or Movie series to watch. I will enjoy each and every day like this up until the racing begins. And each and every day throughout our F1 journey, when we will get these moments.

It’s one of those perfect late afternoons, the kind where everything feels like it’s humming gently beneath your skin. Your shared place with Drew is cozy, warm-toned, minimalist but full of life — photos on the fridge, mugs drying by the sink, the faint scent of lavender from a candle still glowing in the corner. You needed this moment of peace without races, without commitments, just your home with him.

You’re barefoot, standing in front of the open fridge in a loose hoodie and leggings. Grocery bags sit half-unpacked on the counter beside you. You hum a little under your breath as you work — something soft, tuneless, natural. The kind of sound you only make when you’re at peace.

You don’t hear him come up behind you... You’re reaching up to place a carton of juice on the top shelf when — His arms wrap around your waist from behind.

You gasp softly, breath catching in your throat, the chill of the fridge contrasting sharply with the warmth of his body pressing into your back. You freeze just for a second — not out of fear, but out of the jolt of something so tender happening so suddenly.

“Drew…” you gasped quietly.

He murmured into your hair. “Didn’t mean to scare you, sweetheart.”

He rests his chin on your shoulder, his arms tighten around your middle, not possessive — just present. You can feel the steady beat of his heart against your back. He smells like the outdoors and laundry detergent and him.

“You didn’t scare me. Just… caught me off guard.”

You close the fridge door gently, now holding the juice carton against your chest as you lean into his embrace.

“Mhm, you’re warm.” you whispered.

“And you’re always cold, so I consider it my personal duty to fix that.” he whispered back.

You glance over your shoulder at him. He’s got that lopsided grin — the one that shows he’s been watching you longer than he probably should’ve. He tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear.

“You looked cute in the store, all serious with the shopping list. Tapping the avocado like it owed you money.” he giggled.

You chuckled. “It wasn’t ripe, you know.”

“You were muttering to yourself, I was smitten.” he says softly.

You shake your head, trying not to smile as he presses a soft kiss to the crook of your neck. You sink a little deeper into his arms and your voice softens.

“We’ve had such a loud couple of weeks and I didn’t realize how much I missed this.” you whispered softly.

He nodded against your neck. “I know, the world moves fast around you. Always chasing headlines, the next lap, the next record.” He pauses, then presses another kiss to your shoulder. “But when we’re home... I just want to slow you down, to let you breathe.”

“You always know when I need that, even when I don’t.” you murmured.

He moves one hand up to your ribs, fingers spreading there, not groping, just holding, grounding you. He sways you both gently in place like there's music playing that only he can hear.

“You think you’ve built a wall, baby girl. But I see right through it.” he whispered softly.

Your heart stutters because you know he’s not wrong. “I’ve never really let anyone in like this.”

“You don’t have to let anyone else, just me. And that’s all I’ll ever ask.” he says softly.

A quiet beat passes and you set the juice down and turn around in his arms, facing him now. He looks down at you like he’s memorizing something, like he’s etching every detail into his bones.

You reach up, fingertips brushing his jaw, then resting against his cheek. “You know, I used to think the only place I felt in control was the car, on the track.”

“And now?” he asks.

“Now I think… it’s wherever you are.”

He swallows visibly, his voice drops to a whisper. “You’re gonna make me say something stupid if you keep talking like that.”

“Like what?” you asked him.

“Like… I’d build a life around that feeling.”

You lean in and kiss him — slow and deep, like there’s no deadline, no pressure, no end to this moment. His hands cup your face now, soft and gently, and your hands slide into the hair at the back of his neck. When you pull away, foreheads resting together, you’re both breathless.

“God, I missed you when we were traveling. All that press, the flashing lights… I just wanted this... You, pajamas and a half-unpacked grocery bag.” he whispered.

You smiled. “Well, you're in luck! Because I bought your favorite ice cream... And I think you’re stuck with me now.” you whispered back to him.

He smirks. “Best pit stop I’ve ever made.”

You smack his chest lightly, laughing, but then your hand rests there, flat against his heart.

“God, I love you, you know.” you say softly.

He freezes just for a second — not in shock, but in reverence. Like he’s been waiting for it.

“I know, and I love you more than I probably should... More than I thought I could. More than all the names I call you combined, even Honey.” he says.

You smirked. “I thought we agreed that one was retired.” you giggle. “You're terrible with nicknames!”

“Too late, it’s engraved on my heart.” he laughs softly. “Honestly, I'm just testing the waters with nicknames, I have to find the perfect nickname for you.” he winked and you rolled your eyes playfully.

And somewhere in that kitchen, half the groceries still sitting out, you both start dancing slowly to the music of nothing. Just because you can, just because the world is finally quiet, and he’s finally home. And so are you.

The race weekend had been electric, you had fought like hell around the Hungaroring before the anticipated summer break... Smart tire strategy, calculated overtakes, tire degradation be damned. You crossed the line in P2, it's not a win, but it felt like one — especially after a grueling stretch of double-headers. You pulled into parc fermé with fire in your eyes, waved to the crowd, and felt your heartbeat settle just enough to breathe.

But that high? It didn’t last long...

This was supposed to be a cool-down. A controlled space during the last conference of the weekend. Just you and a handful of handpicked journalists, the ones who were supposed to know better... But one didn’t.

You were sitting beside Max, who ended in P1 and Charles, who ended in P3, both of them are relaxed, sipping water, answering questions about tire wear and understeer. And then—

A mid 40 old sky sports journalist asked a question toward you. “Y/n, some say your driving style is a bit too aggressive — emotionally reactive, even. Do you think being a woman influences the way you make decisions on track? Or is that just part of the charm?”

You freeze, his tone is laced with something oily, his smirk worse than the words themselves. Before you can even fully absorb the question, he added something else:

“And given your… now visibility off-track lately, do you feel like your personal life is becoming a distraction from your racing?”

The room stills. A few gasps, a cleared throat. The moderator stumbles over words, but you raise a hand.

“I’m sorry, are you implying that my gender makes me incapable of rational thought at 300 kilometers per hour?” you say with your usual icy-calm.

He smirked. “No, no — just that emotions run high in high-pressure moments and it’s known that—”

You interrupted him. “—known by who? Men who’ve never had to defend their presence in the sport every time they sit in a car?”

The moderator tries to cut in, you push the mic slightly away. The air in the room is thin.

“If I was a man, you’d call it passion, instinct. You’d be asking about my racing line in Turn 7, not about my boyfriend or my smile.” you spoke with some rage underneath.

Max and Charles stayed quiet — not in disagreement with your statement, but in stunned discomfort. You let that silence hang.

“If you want a headline, print this: I am a driver first. Everything else is background noise... And frankly? You can keep your charm comments to yourself.”

The moderator ends the press conference soon after and no one makes eye contact with the journalist again.

You entered the Mercedes hospitality, walking fast, jaw tight. You rip the zipper of your race suit halfway down to breathe, fire boiling in your chest. The moment the door of your driver room closes behind you, you pull your fireproof mesh off and toss it onto the couch... Your hands are shaking.

Everything feels tight — your chest, your throat, your skin. The adrenaline has nowhere to go.

One of the media liaisons opened your door and opened their mouth to say something, but one look at your eyes, and they back off, closing the door again. You storm toward the back — a quieter corner with tinted windows. You brace your hands on the counter, head down, your reflection in the glass looks furious and exhausted.

“Why do I even try?” you whispered shakily.

You hear the door creak open again, softer this time.

“Hey.”

You don’t turn around, not necessarily, it's Drew. He approaches anyway, slow, measured. He knows that look — shoulders tense, the way you’re blinking too much to keep tears at bay.

He stops just behind you, not touching, but waiting. “I saw the clip. You handled it better than I would have. I’d be banned from every paddock in Europe if I’d been in that room.” he says softly.

“I’m so tired, Drew. Of having to smile through it, of proving myself every damn weekend, and then still being reduced to some… some girlfriend in a suit with a “charming” driving style.” you say with a tight voice.

He steps closer now, gently placing a hand on your back. You exhale sharply, but don’t move away.

“I just finished second, second! That's still huge considering I've only won one race this season! And all anyone wants to talk about is my boyfriend or my attitude. Not my tire strategy, not my split-second overtake, not the hundreds of hours I put in.”

Your voice cracks and he pulls you into him, one hand cradling the back of your head as your forehead presses to his chest. You clutch his shirt like it’s the only thing holding you upright.

He speaks slow. “Let it out, baby. You don’t have to hold it in with me, 'right?”

You cry silently — not sobs, just tight, frustrated tears. The kind that burn more than they fall, the kind that come from years of biting your tongue. His hands never leave you, grounding you, his cheek rests on top of your head.

“I’m not weak for being upset, right?” you say, your voice muffled.

“Hell no! You’re human, and you’re strong as hell for still showing up after all of this.” he sighed. “I wish they saw what I see.” he says.

Your curiosity piqued. “What do you see?”

He pulls back enough to look at you — thumb brushing the tear track from your cheek.

“I see the woman who overtook two world champions in a single lap earlier this afternoon... Who reads telemetry like it’s poetry, who fights harder than anyone I’ve ever met... And yet, she still finds room in that big, bruised heart of hers to let me in.”

You speak softly. “Even when I’m like this?”

“Oh, especially when you’re like this.” he kisses your forehead, a long, grounding kiss. “They don’t deserve your softness, but I do. So give it to me, just for a little while.”

You nod slowly, arms circling his waist. Breathing deeply into him now, his presence is like a balm to your soul.

You sit side-by-side on the small couch now, his arm is around your shoulders. There’s a cup of tea between your hands and you sip it slowly.

You’re quieter now, yeah, you still angry, but... you're no longer alone.

“Thank you... For being here, you know? For not trying to fix it — just… being here.” you say softly and shyly.

He gives you a lopsided smile. “Always! You don’t have to earn peace with me, you just get it.”

And in that quiet corner, away from the noise and the politics, the questions and the headlines, you remember that even in a world built to test your strength — you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

The view looks like it was painted just for you. A hidden villa carved into a hillside in the South of Italy — rustic stone walls, blooming bougainvillea wrapping around columns, a patio shaded by billowing white curtains. It’s quiet except for the soft crash of the waves down below.

You’re wrapped in a breezy linen robe, legs tucked up under you on a lounge chair, sunglasses low on your nose, a cold glass of peach juice in your hand. You haven’t checked your phone in hours — and that’s on purpose.

Your skin is sun-warmed, your shoulders finally free of the pressure of race suits, expectations, headlines. You feel like your lungs are expanding fully for the first time in weeks. You deserved this summer break, not so much for the season itself, but for the constant comments about your private life instead of your performance on the track.

“Okay, I found the speaker. You want chill acoustic, lo-fi, or the playlist you made that’s just Harry Styles and sad girl anthems, hm?” he asked.

You tilt your head and smirk toward the open patio door, where Drew stands shirtless in linen pants, holding your little portable speaker like a sacred artifact.

“Let’s go sad girl playlist. I like my happiness with a side of melancholy.” you giggled softly.

He sighs and smiled at you. “Oh god, you’re so weird. I love you.”

He sets the speaker down and hits play. The opening chords of a moody indie song drift through the space, and he walks over to you with two popsicles he found in the tiny freezer.

“Also, I found these… and may be expired... Or Italian, or maybe both.” he chuckles.

“If I die of an expired lemon gelato popsicle, at least I went out happy.” you say smiling at him.

He sits beside you, knees brushing yours. The moment is so domestic it aches, he hands you one, takes a bite of his, then lays back with a sigh.

“You know what I realized yesterday?” he says softly.

“What?”

“That this is the first time I’ve seen you this still, like... really still. Not stretching, not checking lap times in your head, not thinking about tire wear or interviews or which teammate has annoyed you today.”

You turn your head toward him, popsicle halfway to your mouth. He’s gazing at the sky, arms behind his head, a light dusting of freckles along his collarbone.

“I don’t know how to be still, not really. But I’m trying.”

“You’re doing great, you haven’t talked about apexes in, like, two whole days.” he gives you a lopsided grin.

You chuckle, then scoot over and lay your head on his chest. And him, instinctively, wraps an arm around your waist.

You spoke softly. “You know what I also realized?”

“Hit me.”

You sighed. “I forgot how much I need this. Not just the break, you... Being around you feels like... exhaling after holding my breath for an entire season.”

He spoked softly at you. “Then keep breathing, baby. We’ve got weeks of this.”

Later at night, you’re dancing around the kitchen barefoot in one of Drew’s shirts and a pair of shorts, stirring pasta sauce while he slices tomatoes, badly singing along to some mellow playlist. The windows are open, sea breeze drifting in with the scent of garlic and basil.

Your hip bumps his as you pass behind him. He looks over his shoulder.

“Whoa, careful, I might think you’re flirting.” he winked at you.

“Oh no! Heaven forbid I flirt with my own boyfriend in a villa during our own summer break.” you faked a gasped.

He chuckled. “Scandalous.”

He turns and catches you around the waist, sauce spoon still in your hand. He kisses the tip of your nose.

“You’re glowing, you know that? Like... sunlight bottled up.” he whispered softly.

“I think it’s just olive oil and freedom.” you blushed.

“Well, whatever it is, I want to see you like this forever.”

After dinner, you’re both on the terrace. A bottle of wine between you, dessert half-eaten, cicadas singing somewhere in the trees.

You’re in his lap now, head tucked under his chin, your fingers lazily tracing patterns over his chest.

“What happens after this?” you asked him.

“What do you mean?”

“When we go back... You know, cameras, questions, schedules, the pressure, the “charm.” That stuff.” you spoke.

“We take it one moment at a time... The same way we got here, same way we’ll keep getting through it.”

You look up at him, eyes searching. “And you’ll still be there? In my garage? In the corners of my race weekends?”

He smiled widely. “You’re not getting rid of me, babe. I’m your most consistent supporter. I’ve memorized your pit stop times. I’m emotionally invested in your tire compounds.” he joked a bit.

You snort and laugh, laying your head back down.

“God, you’re ridiculous.”

“Yeah, but you love me. Even when I bring you expired Italian popsicles.”

He kisses your temple, your cheek, then your collarbone. You sigh happily, the kind of sigh that says you are so deeply okay.

“Can we never leave?” you sighed.

He chuckled softly. “We’ll leave eventually. But this version of us? It comes with us.”

You close your eyes and let the stars hold you for a while.

And so summer drifts by — not in a blur, but in snapshots. Morning swims in the sea, midday naps tangled in linen sheets, slow kisses, long dinners, quiet smiles, laughter so loud it echoes through the trees. The world pauses just long enough to let you remember who you are when you’re not being everything to everyone.

And in those soft, slow hours — you are his, you are your own. And that? Is everything.

Race Day - Aussie GP 2019 - Part 8

A new team? With two females? This is unheard of and will most certainly shake things up in F1! Meet Y/n Rose-Ocean and Evelyn Match as they get assigned seats into a new team into the F1, Porsche Royal racing. Y/n holds the number 38 whilst Evelyn holds the number 72. The two are introduced as rookies in the 2019 season, but, their area has been yet to be revealed, it being closed by tarps, and the two girls' identities have also remained a secret. Over time, even though she’s one of the youngest, she soon becomes the “grid aunt” and even “grid older/younger sister” as well.

...cheers ERUPT from all across the track in a mighty roar-like way as y/n stumbles back a bit at the sudden, and definetly unexpected, outburst from the F1 fans.

She takes her time soaking it all in, smiling in relief at the sound, before desciding to turn around to the two Mercedes drivers behind her who, ineditably, have their jaws on the ground. Before Valtteri picks his up first, and comes over to give me a proper "congratulations" and "welcome to the grid," whilst patting my shoulder, then stepping aside to allow Lewis past as he goes to grab some water.

The legand himself leans in close so she can hear him over the never-ending, but now dying out, cheers, "Congrats mighty queen! And I am so sorry for grabbing hold of your waist like that when helping you out. If I'd have known, I would have handled that quite differently." This brings a shocked expression out of the panting and now blushing, girl, who then chuckles slightly at the comment, "No need to apologise, mate. You didn't know, and I needed help. I would still be stuck in there if it weren't for you. It's all good!"

His eyebrows shot up a bit, finally hearing her voice without it being changed, "Ah, so you are Aussie, got it. Well, good result at your first race being your home race." He tells her quite fondly whilst she reponds with, "Thank you, Lewis- oh! My names Jessie, by the way. Jessie Rose-Ocean."

She watches him take in the information, smiles, and states that it's, "A nice name, suited for a driver," before he, too, heads off to go and now celebrate with his team.

When all of a sudden...

I instantly turn my head to where I can now see Ev, helmet and balaclava off, sprinting towards me. Somehow, she'd gotten past the line. But everyone must know what's going on, so they don't care.

"Jessieeeee!" She screams out, moments before colliding with me, "Naww, you did it my girl, P3 in your first F1 race! And at home! I'm so proud of you N̂xng s̄āw khn lĕk." (little sister). She squeezes my cheeks together as I laugh at her actions, swatting her hands away, "People I watching, Ev," my embrassed side showing.

"Well, let them watch. You've come P3, and I've come P9. We both have made history today. And you're about to make more of it. I will leave you be now. Enjoy it," Ev winks as she makes her way over to get weighed in for the first time. I think for a moment, and then quickly rush over to the team that I can now spot and launch myself into hugs with everyone, tears starting to form in my eyes.

And then I see River, and I'm quick to hug my son, and then my fathers and brothers who all ended up being there to see their little girl winning her dreams.

3rd person POV

She then feels a tap on her shoulder, and turns around to see Lance giving her a huge grin, and she hauls him into a massive hug as he lifts her off of her feet, literally. He then quickly does a cute little wave to baby River, and leads her over to get weighed.

They talk about the race as they do this, and then Lance wishes her well and heads off. Few moments later, a "Jessie" rings out in an English accent, and she turns to see her fellow rookie George striding towards her with Lando and Alex in tow. Big group hug moment between the four, before Alex calls out, "Ev! Over here!" And only a few moments later, another pair of arms join in.

And the 2019 rookies are in joy for everyone. No matter where they ended up. They all made it here and will have their times to shine. They just know it! (Foreshadow?)

Time skip to the interviews, 3rd person POV

Jessie is up first for the post-race interviews, and when she steps into frame, grabbing hold of the mic, everyone goes balastic once more in the stands, causing her to slightly lean over in laughter.

"So, no. 38. Can I start by just asking you your name, please? So we don't just have to call you by your driver's number? And maybe a brief intro on you?" She gets asked, "Oh! Of course! So, hello everyone, my name is Y/n Rivera García Luna Ramírez Scott, but you can just call me Jessie Scott, that's the last name I'm going to be using here. I'm 18 years old, Australian and, um, well, I'm adopted. I have two dads, four older brother who are also adopted, and I also have an adopted son, my little River." She proudly announces to the crowd who all "awww" at her last confession. "But, on my Instagram, it says Rose-Ocean as my last name, just so people know."

That causes chuckles to ripple through the crowd, and the interviwer also smiles at the quick comment before continuing on, "Well, Jessie, that was quite the drive out there, I believe that is one for the history books, don't you think?" He asks, "Of course, me and my driving partner, her names Evelyn Match, by the way, have done incredible things in that car over the course of the winter break and the past few days here. This is my home turf, so I would also say it's a pretty good start to my first year!" This brings more cheers as people here her saying she's Aussie once more. Another one on the track!

"Obvioulsy, though, I'm new to this sport. I'm 18, I'm a girl, and I'm a rookie. There will be limitations to what my body can and can't do. But I will always, always push myself to be my best self. I will always bring 200% to the track and never give up until that chequared flag is waved as I cross that finish line. I'm not a quiter. I can tell you that much. Poté den ítan (never have been), nunca lo será (never will be)."

Cheers redate through as Greek and Spanish fans understand what she means, and others that understand the languages.

"And how do you think the other drivers went out there today?" The questions lands, and she stops to think for a moment, before confessing that "Everyone did so well today, mate. As we all know, my teammate, Ev, got P9, which is also incredible. And my other 2019 rookies, George, Lando, and Alex, also did quite a good job today. We've still got a lot of talent left inside of us, though, ready to come out and show it to the world. And to Valtteri and Lewis, congrats to you both, and to Max, and to Lance, and to everyone who put up a fight with me, I know who to watch out for. But I will not make the mistake of underestaminting anyone in this sport, that can leave you in the dust and in last place. I can't do that to myself." He looks at me, surpised a bit by my answer, not just talking about one driver, but a lot.

"Well, thank you for that Jessie. We all wish you great luck, you and Evelyn, for your 2019 rookie seasons! Can I have another applause for Ms Jessie Scott!" It goes wild.

Y/n's POV

I feel so happy right now, it's just so hard to understand what's actually going on with tears now streaming down my face, and me being led out of Parc fermé, to where I can only assume is the FIA press confrence.

Oh shit.

I haven't fully planned for this? What do I do? What happens if I get sexist reporters or some crazy shit goes down in there that already sends my career into the gravel- "Estarás bien, hija mía, Lewis y Valtteri te apoyarán ahí dentro." (You'll be fine, my daughter, Lewis and Valtteri will support you in there). The voice of Fernando makes me jump and turn, "Sorry to scare you, but I feel like you needed to hear that from someone you like and trust." He winks and I feel my face heat it, "You remember la entrevista donde dije que eres mi conductora favorita." (the interview where I said you are my favourite driver).

"Sí (yes), and I'm honoured to be that person to you, Jessie. Now you go in there, y así eliminas esa estúpida rueda de prensa que siempre tenemos que dar cuando terminamos entre los tres primeros." (And you kill that stupid press conference we always have to do when we finish in the top three). He gives me a quick hug before pushing me forward and I watch him head back out the way he most likely came.

But Fernando Alonse saw that interview where I confessed that piece of information. And now he's calling me his daughter? And that he's honoured that I see him as important to look up too?

Oh lord, Jessie. Do not throw up before you go into that room... or do, actually, so you don't do it in there.

Oh, whatever, I'm going in.

The bustling Bahreïn paddock is a hive of activity. Mechanics swarm around cars, engineers pore over data, and team personnel hurry back and forth, the air crackles with anticipation for the upcoming race.

You're a rising star in F1 driving alongside George Russell in Mercedes, you stand near the team's garage, clad in your racing suit before going to the drivers parade waiting area. You're discussing strategy with your race engineer, your brow furrowed in concentration.

Across the paddock, near the Red Bull Racing’s garage, Drew Starkey stands with his friends, Austin and Chase, they were invited as VIPs by the team. Drew’s eyes are fixed on you, a look of complete captivation on his face. He’s mesmerized by your intensity, your focus, the way you commands attention without even seeming to try.

Austin nudges Drew with his elbow. “Earth to Drew! My god, you’ve been staring at her for like... five minutes... More than five minutes I might say. Your mouth is practically hanging open.” he looks your way too. “It's like you're eating her whole with your eyes.”

Chase chuckled. “Just go talk to her, man. What’s the worst that could happen?” he says nonchalantly.

Drew shifts nervously, running a hand through his hair. “I can’t just… walk up to her, you know? She’s y/n, you know? Like… the y/n. F1 royalty I might say.” he sighs. “I’d probably just stammer and make a fool of myself in front of her.”

Austin rolled his eyes.

“Dude... You’re Drew Starkey man! You're a literal Hollywood star. I’m sure you can handle a conversation with a race car driver.” he says exasperated.

Before Drew can respond, the red bull drivers, Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda, approach them. Max, the older and more protective of the two, notices Drew's gaze lingering on you. He raises an eyebrow, a playful smirk spreading across his face.

“Is everything alright, man? You seem a little… distracted.” Max says.

Drew flusters, stammering slightly. “Uh… yeah, no, everything’s fine man. Just… admiring the… uh… scenery.”

Yuki follows Max’s gaze and sees you talking with your engineer. He grins mischievously, instantly understanding the situation.

“Ah, I see... The scenery has definitely improved since we last raced here.” he winked at Drew.

Max playfully shoves Yuki. “Yuki... Behave yourself!”

Yuki ignores Max and turned to Drew. “Don't worry, mate. I got your back. Come on.”

Yuki grabbed Drew’s arm and starts leading him towards you, leaving a bewildered Austin and Chase behind. Max sighs dramatically, shaking his head, but follows close behind, a mixture of amusement and protectiveness in his eyes.

As they approach you, your race engineer excuses himself, leaving you alone for a moment. Yuki seizes the opportunity.

“Hey, y/n! I don’t think you’ve met Drew, he’s a big fan.” Yuki smiles mischievously.

You turned, your gaze meeting Drew’s. You smiled politely and kindly, you extend your hand.

“Hi there, Drew. It's nice to meet you!” you say softly.

Drew shakes your hand, his palms slightly sweaty, but you don't mind that. He’s momentarily speechless, your presence even more captivating up close.

Drew stutters. “Hi… y/n. It’s… uh… a pleasure to meet you too. I’m a… a huge fan of yours.”

You giggle, a warm, genuine sound that makes Drew’s heart skip a beat.

“Aww! Thanks, I really appreciate the support!” you say softly.

A brief silence hangs in the air, filled only with the sounds of the bustling paddock. Yuki jumps in to save the day.

“Drew was just telling us how impressed he was with your qualifying lap yesterday. He said it was poetry in motion.” he grins.

Drew shoots Yuki a grateful look. “Yeah, it was incredible, the way you took that last corner… It was pure magic.” Drew slightly relax.

You smile, a hint of pride in your eyes.

“Thank you. I was pretty happy with it myself.” you giggle.

You chat with him for a few more minutes, the conversation flowing easily, thanks to Yuki’s expert wingman skills and Max’s watchful, albeit amused, presence. Drew finds himself relaxing, his initial nervousness replaced by a genuine enjoyment of the conversation. He learns that you're not only a brilliant driver but also intelligent, funny, and a surprisingly down-to-earth person.

As the conversation winds down, the call for the drivers' parade sounds over the loudspeakers.

“Well, duty calls. It was nice meeting you, Drew!” you smile so brightly "she shines like a million diamonds" he thinks.

He smiles back. “I say the same thing, y/n. Good luck out there.”

You wink at him. “Thanks. I'll see you on the podium.”

You turned and walked towards the waiting section, leaving Drew watching you, a hopeful smile on his face. He's so starstruck for you...

Chase clapped Drew on the back. “Not bad, man... Not bad at all.”

Austin shakes his head, still smiling. “Just try to keep your jaw off the floor next time, yeah?”

Drew rolled his eyes playfully and the trio of boys walked back to the Red Bull garage, this day couldn't have gone any better for him, talking to his famous crush, now it's time to think about how he can ask you out on a date...

FP2/FP3 - Aussie GP 2019 - Part 5

A new team? With two females? This is unheard of and will most certainly shake things up in F1! Meet Y/n Rose-Ocean and Evelyn Match as they get assigned seats into a new team into the F1, Porsche Royal racing. Y/n holds the number 38 whilst Evelyn holds the number 72. The two are introduced as rookies in the 2019 season, but, their area has been yet to be revealed, it being closed by tarps, and the two girls' identities have also remained a secret. Over time, even though she’s one of the youngest, she soon becomes the “grid aunt” and even “grid older/younger sister” as well.

Little time to the start FP2

"It's time once more y/n! Go get 'em, girl!" Ev tells me whilst patting my shoulder and I give her a gracious smile in return, "You as well Ev, you're doing amazing." And with that comment, she chuckles, and responds with, "We both are."

After her final statement, she retreats to her car and hops in and I follow in suit into my own and wait for instructions to drive out. This time round though, Ev gets to go out before me and I have to wait a few more seconds before I get the signal and drive out into the pitlane.

It's just like FP1, but also different in a way that I can't explain.

And it just seems as though this time round, it goes even quicker than the last one. Each turn felt magnetic. The wind blowing subtly. All was great, dreams were coming true. Couldn't get any better!

As soon as I get out of the car once more after pulling into the garage, I quickly jog over to Gavern since he's going to be giving me another run down with what happened during FP1.

--- Both Hamilton and Bottas traded top times

--- Hamilton finished on top

--- Red Bull's drivers were equally matched

--- Kimi Räikkönen, Iceman, went too hot into turn 1 and took a "shortcut" through the grass

--- Other drivers also had difficulty and found the rough were Antonio Giovinazzi, Lance Stroll, and Alexander Albon not once, but twice. As did Sebastian Vettel

--- Vettel had a slower time than Hamilton, but it's believed that this doesn't show the car's full potential

--- Charles Leclerc had a difficult moment as the session came to a close

--- Danny Ric had to sit out, just like his teammate, Hulkenburg, in FP1

I started to zone out as I realised that I had done worse this time round, placing P16, and spotting on the TV that Ev got P13. Something in my stomach sturs seeing that. I really thought that I was quicker, much quicker than that. But, obviously, I wasn't and Ev was.

Knowing that FP3 is coming up (tomorrow), I excuse myself from the conversation with Gav, and just head to hospitality which has one-way glass. That way, me and Ev are able to have our faces out without having to worry about being seen by others outside of the team.

After grabbing some nice leek and potato soup and a side of tofu, I go and take a seat at one of the tables in the far corner and place my food down. Once sitting down, I seem to remember that I still have my full attire on so, I hastily, but smoothly, take off my helmet and then my balaclava. That honestly reminds me of my skiing. Then I take off my gloves and put them inside of my helmet that is on the chair next to me.

As I eat my food, I watch as members of the team walk in and out, in and out, in and out. Some leaving with food like the meat burritos, or a simple chocolate brownie. This gets too boring for me, so, I decide to take out my phone and, once getting it open, I see that my brother, Nolan. Assuming that it's his usual questions like, what should I name this character? Is this enough words for a chapter? Is this too dark?

But, it's the complete opposite.

You see, I had seemed to of forgotten that Nolan was on babysitting duty today for my little angel, River.

N: Hey sis! Doors locked and no one else is answering me, would you be able to unlock it through your phone? It's just that River is with me, and he is very tired...

Y/n: Oh, of course!

And so I quickly disable the locks on the door after checking the cameras to make sure that it is actually him, and I hear the click.

N: Thanks, sis!! Good racing as well! Riv is very impressed with his Momma

I don't respond.

Not because I don't want to, but because a notification pops up from Instagram, alerting me that something has been posted. And! Surprise, surprise, it is from Nolan.

My family knows that I'm fine with them posting my son, so that's fine with me. Cause who wouldn't want to post cute and adorable little River!

After reading all of the comments, both good and bad, but mainly good, I finally get the smile back onto my face. Some are calling me a bad other, (which I've been called years, so I'm used to it), but the majority are really nice.

But then, get a message, a few to be exact actually.

EM: Hey, you alright?

I look up from my phone and look around the hospitality centre and spot Ev near me, but on the opposite side with an eyebrow raised.

Y/n: Yeah, I'm fine... just, stressed, you know?? Miss River as well

EM: You know that you can talk to me, right?

EM: Y/n???

Deciding that I'm going to go on a walk to clear my head, I put my phone on silent, pick up my remaining food, toss that away and walk out. I'll talk to her about this later.

Evelyn Match's pov

As y/n leaves, I feel an ache of guilt in my stomach. I know that she knows that I know why she's annoyed. And it's because I did better than her. She's always so competitive. That's what I love about her so much.

This is what she does though, to clear her head, and then she's back to her usual chirpy self. I also know that another reason could be the fact that right now, what we are doing, could make or break history. Big time. And so far, we're around the bottom/mid-section of the grid.

So, this is looking bad for us.

As I take another bite of my cheese omelette, I think back to my family and all of their accomplishments in life, and how they've all, mostly, supported my dreams.

With the window being one-way glass, I am to spy on the drivers that walk by and look curiously at the building whilst also attempting to sneak a peek inside.

Drivers like Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, Romain Grosjean, and even Lance Stroll, one of y/n's best friends. She did tell me that he figured it out. It was quite the shocking news, to be honest with you.

My phone dings and I see that it's my timer.

Time to head back to the garage and get prepared for FP3.

Even though that race is tomorrow, it's more so the boring stuff now with stats and shit like that.

FP3. The final free practice of the first round of free practices. 26°C. But feeling it a whole lot more inside of the car.

The turns start to get familiar and so the the straights and hairpins. And, good news! I'm actually doing really well this time round! P14 again so far this time around, but I'm catching up on the car in front of me.

P12. That's a great position. Much better than the ones before. I'm much happier with this outcome, at least, for now, that is. Ev also finished up in P14 this time which is really good for her.

She and I chatted last night and worked everything out between us, so we're fine now, which is good. I mean, she is one of my closest friends and we're in this together. We stand together as one.

So yeah, P1 for Lewis as well. He's going to be a tough one to beat, that's for sure. Everyone knows that about him. I mean, he's the Lewis Hamilton.

I finished just below Hulkenberg and just above Giovinazzi with Ev just below Sainz and just above Perez.

Qualifying is in a few hours from now, so I'm just resting up inside my drivers room with an ice-cold water bottle and tons of cool air coming through.

I knew that this was going to be tough on me, but not this tough.

"Rápido, cúbrete la cabeza cariño," (Quick, cover your head darling)," Fernando rushingly tells me whilst I'm just still in shock and he reaches over, after probally seeing me not moving, and hastily, but gently, puts the hood back over my head and leans down to pick up the glasses that I somehow didn't even realsie fell off.

"Gracias Fernando," (Thank you, Fernando), I tell him with a deep appreciation and get a firm nod in response before he decides to talk, "You might want to hurry up to your interview now, it's only a few minutes away and you may need to jog there darling." With that comment, I feel my eyes widen once more before smiling at the man that I've been a fan of since forever, and start a quick jog whilst calling out to him, "Gracias de nuevo Fernando, nos vemos por ahí!" (Thank you again, Fernando, see you around!) and can't catch his reply due to the distance that I've put.

"So, number 38, who would you say is the driver that you look up to the most at this current point in time?" I sit up straighter, surprised by the question since, surprisingly, it hasn't been asked yet and I now have to try and hide my giddiness, "That would be Fernando Alonso or Sebastian Vettel. They've always been my inspiration and I've always looked up to them. Fernando is actually my reason for starting my journey. But that's a story for another time." The journalists seem to really like that answer as each and every one of them, I can see, jot down some notes.

"Number 72, same question." Ev glances quickly to me before looking back forward and saying, "Kimi Raikkonen. The Ice Man." Everyone looks at her expectantly, "What?" She questions, "Aren't you going to say why?" She just shrugs her shoulders at this and remains silent whilst I've been trying to hold in my laugh, I have to hold up my fist to my mouth to stay silent and also just to keep it contained.

"Nạ̀n pĕn reụ̄̀xng tlk," (That was funny), I whisper to her, "C̄hạn phyāyām," (I try), she responds causing me to snort and lean into her shoulder before sitting back up again to focus back in.

This goes on for a little while longer, good questions, bad questions, questioning questions, and also questions that are trying to figure out Ev's and mines identities, but we know better. We've been trained better then this.

"Question for the both of you," We both hum to this, urging them to go on, "Will we hear your voices when racing this weekend, or no? Cause if so, wouldn't that just reveal who you are?" Me and Ev look to each other, before she gestures for me to speak, "No, you will not hear our actual voices like how right now, you're not," this comment makes the room murmur, before someone asks, "What do you mean?" I respond quickly with, "What I mean is that we have a voice changer on right now. That's all I'll say."

"Mmm... this is so good Hassan, thank you," Ev basically praises him, "I am glad you like it, they're some new dishes I'm trying out for the restaurant," he explains to her, "Well, you should definitely add it," she points to him with her fork.

The meal tonight is a Vegan Red Lentil Curry with some Vangi Bath, Vegan Naan, Aloo Matar Samosas, Vegan Potato Salad with Turmeric and Green Peas and Kachumber. With dessert being an option of either Carrot Halwa Trifle or Paleo Kulfi.

"So, how are you girls feeling about tomorrow?" Ev's father asks as he picks up some naan bread, "Pretty good, you know, still nervous but who wouldn't be?" Ev responds to him as he hums in agreement, "Kápoios pou prépei na prosécho to mikró?" (Anyone I need to keep an eye on little one?) Dad asks me in Greek making me stare at him in shock and I feel a slight blush rise up to my cheeks, "Bampás! Óchi! Kai akóma ki an ypírche, den eínai dikí sou douleiá!" (Dad! No! And even if there was, that is none of your business) I scold him as he chuckles and so do my brothers that are here.

Hassan has a night off tonight, Javiar is off being a DJ at some club nearby, Atlas just arrived home around three hours ago from rehearsals, and Nolan has just been home all day working on his next novel. Dad got home around an hour ago, and Papá was working from home today, so he and Nolan kept each other company alongside my baby River. From Evelyn's family, her father and stepmother are here, her uncle and aunt from her dad's side, her three grandmas, two from her dad's side, one from her mother's, and two of her grandpas are here, one from each side.

All I'll say is, it's lucky that we have a big dining table.

I stand on my balcony of my room in my stripped pink Peter Alexander pj's and just look out to the sky. It's a peaceful night with crickets making their usual quiet noise and the moon shining bright with it occasionally getting blocked by the clouds. Everything is going to change on Sunday afternoon.

Being honest, I don't know if I'm fully ready. But Porche Racing did pick me. I just have to keep remembering that. I need to do this for my family, for Evelyn, for River.

I can do this.

FP1 - Aussie GP 2019 - Part 4

A new team? With two females? This is unheard of and will most certainly shake things up in F1! Meet Y/n Rose-Ocean and Evelyn Match as they get assigned seats into a new team into the F1, Porsche Royal racing. Y/n holds the number 38 whilst Evelyn holds the number 72. The two are introduced as rookies in the 2019 season, but, their area has been yet to be revealed, it being closed by tarps, and the two girls' identities have also remained a secret. Over time, even though she’s one of the youngest, she soon becomes the “grid aunt” and even “grid older/younger sister” as well.

The atmosphere is immaculate.

Ev and I are walking into the paddock, side by side with Aurel on my left and Urs on Ev's right. The sound of clicking enters my ears and I look around and find a camera pointing towards us and I give a quick wave to it.

With the security around us, we're able to avoid all the press and people wanting to ask us questions and get statements from us which I am somewhat happy about. I mean, I know that after Sunday, it will become a weekly occurrence, I hope.

Our little group passes by some of the other drivers that are just entering their garages and we even pass by Lance who I wave to as well and get a nod and smile in response before he disappears inside Racing Point to most likely talk to his team.

It's only a few more seconds before one of the security people is opening up a flap that lets us inside the Porche garage. "Alright girls, you can head up to your drivers' rooms but make sure to be down here in around an hour or so please," Aurel informs us causing both Ev and I to nod as we take off our hoods and sunnies.

"Sure thing boss and second boss, see ya later!" I call out to the brother as the two of us girls rush up to our rooms and agree to spend time right now in our own rooms, but later on will hang out in one another's.

As soon as I close the door, I practically rip off my disguise and let out a breath of a realise. In a few hours time, I will be driving in FP1 for the first time in F1 amongst the top 10 teams and top 20 drivers in the world. Talk about pressure.

I'm not too great with my emotions, but I've been compacting these feelings deep down and just need to let it all go. But I can't. Not yet at least.

As soon as I place my helmet onto my head, I realise a deep sigh and make a quick jog over to my car. Upon taking the steering wheel out, I hand it to one of my engineers to hold onto whilst I hoist myself up and into the vehicle before taking it back and putting it into place.

Now, time for the waiting game.

The garage is still hidden by the tarp, but is about to be revealed for the first time ever. Porche Royal Racing.

And then, the countdown in my headset begins. I'm way too nervous to even look over at Evelyn. "3... 2... 1..." And as soon as that last number was spoken, the garage becomes bright. Sunlight finally able to reach the inside and I can hear the distant cheers of the crowd.

"Alright y/n, wait for the signal to head out onto the track," The voice of my race engineer, Gavern, echoes through my ears and I give him a thumbs up as he turns around to face me before turning back around. It feels like forever until I hear the words, "Alright, you are free to go, follow the people that are instructing you out."

I don't respond back, but I do follow those instructions and wait to be signed out before driving down the pit lane towards the exit slowly before speeding up and heading out onto the track.

It feels so surreal. Honestly. Like, if I was told when I was five that I'd be here, I would never have believed it. Having the air rush past me as I go speeds only imaginable in a casual car on the road. Of course, I had practised in the car before starting in Formula 1 but this is nothing like that feeling.

Looking through my mirrors as I go through turn 6, I spot Ev a little ways behind and send a quick thumbs up to her, hoping that she can see it. "Good pace so far, keep going," Gavern, my race engineer, speaks making me jump for a second from the scare, "Yup, cool," I respond back, "Did I scare you?" He asks making me sigh whilst going through turn 10, "Yes, sorry. I'm gonna get used to that. At some point," As he responds back, he's chuckling making me roll my eyes, "Sorry, good driving though. I'll leave you be for now."

I decide not to respond and keep my eyes ahead of me as I hear other car engines all around the place. Turn after turn, car after car, gear change after gear change. My mind doesn't even get to properly comprehend what I am doing but also it does at the same time as I take each turn so gracefully and precisely whilst using enough oversteer to keep steady and to try not to crash.

This goes on for some time, from what I realise as I have to shake myself back into reality as I got so deep into focus.

I stayed out for as long as needed and possible before getting told over radio that, "That's enough information for now, you can pull in and recharge for FP2." And, of course, I listen to the message and pull into the pit lane and see many curious eyes from the other teams garages as I drive by them.

Hopping out of the car after parking the car, I make sure to keep my helmet on before spotting Gavern gesturing me over to him just as Ev pulls in as well and, with a quick wave and thumbs up to her, I hastily walk over towards my race engineer.

Gavern decides to also give me a brief run down on everything that happened during FP1, including the other drivers:

Running wide, Valtteri lost the rear of his Mercedes, narrowly avoiding the wall before executing a nearly perfect hand-break turn.

Alex took a spin exiting turn two damaging both ends of his Toro Rosso, not the start he was hoping for.

Daniel was wearing Aussie themed boots and has a new helmet design but was only in P19 in FP1.

Drivers kept driving through the dirt.

Lewis placed P1 in FP1.

Ev placed P17 in FP1.

And I placed P14 in FP1.

It's now some time until FP2, and I need a rest. I'm all sweaty and puffed out for now. But, I can do this. I'm already up high in the grid, but it is also on FP1 so, drivers could be hiding their true talents.

-Two days later, y/n pov-

Ev and I are taking a little walk around the paddock to try and get more used to our surroundings after our little day off yesterday. I mean, we know the place quite well considering that I am Australian but, there's new areas that we need to explore. We have had to be careful though, hoods up and everything. It feels like we're in a spy/action film but in real life.

Whilst venturing around, I'm able to see a few faces that I can recognise: Danial Riccardo, a fellow Aussie, chatting away with Max Verstappen, and the three other rookies of the year chattering away. We walk by them, giving the three a nod, me catching the slighting confused and curious glances from the other two, and head to a separate media room where it'll just be the two of us.

As we enter said room, we are led up onto a slightly raised platform and take our seats as the reports flood in but, quickly noticing, that majority are female which calms me down slightly. Still hiding ourselves, we get comfortable and then wait for the interviewing process to start as both mine and Ev's PR managers stand to the side.

After the second interview, we get to have a little break so, Ev and I go separate ways, promising to meet up in a few hours.

I decide to make my way an area that has food. Cause let me tell you, I am hungry! So, making my way around, I find a vegan stand, which I am so happy about. After placing in my order, I wait off to the side with a cold plastic water bottle which I got for free, as they told me it would take a few minutes to make the pasta and dumplings.

A minute in, as I'm scrolling through Instagram, a message on the app pops up, from Lance Stroll. I don't hesitate to open it but then freak out a little when I see the message.

LS🏎️: You know, I'm a little sad that you didn't tell me you were one of the drivers.

Quickly whipping my head around, I see Lance staring right back at me with a cheeky smile on his face, phone in hand, and, with a sigh, I gesture him over after checking around to see if anyone else was close by. "How on earth did you figure it out?" I question sharply as he reaches me and get a shrug in response as he puts his phone back into his pocket, "Pretty easily, actually. Only you have that necklace and bracelets. And, also, I am one of your best friends," He states to me as I open my water and take a sip before closing it again, "True," I respond.

My order is then called out and I go and grab it, "Thank you," I say to the three workers and then head back over to Lance with the food in a bag and we begin to walk before he talks again, "So, I'm assuming Evelyn is the other driver?" He just gets a nod and hum from me. "Sooo, when will this be revealed?" He asks, "After the race," he just nods at my response.

We continue our nice stroll before reaching the still-hidden Porche garage and we say our goodbyes before I reach for the opening of the tarp keeping the place hidden from the rest of the world at this current moment in time and head inside. Walking around, mechanics and engineers stream by in a flash, seeming to get some more tyres and testing how efficiently and effectively they can get them onto the car. Looking around for one specific person for a moment, I spot them.

"Atlas" Upon hearing their name getting called out by me, my brother whips around and his face lights up when spotting me and quickly does a light jog over.

-Small time skip, 3rd pov-

After my lunch with Atlas, we say our goodbyes as he needs to go and go and meet up with some of his mates. I have a few more minutes, that being around fifteen minutes, until I am needed back for the last round of interviews today.

As I wonder around the padock more, it just feels sos sureal that in around seventy-two hours I will be having my first official Formula 1 race here! I am so excited- Omph.

"Oh, my gosh! I am so sorry," An accented voice states and in a hurry helps me stand up from the fall and, upon looking up, I see that it is Fernando Alonso. "Esta todo bien" (It's all good), I respond to him before seeing his eyes are wide, causing me to tilt my head slightly, confused.

"Oh Dios mío..." (Oh my gosh…), he mumbles and I'm just so confused until it hits me. My hoodie is now resting agisint the back of my neck, probaly fallen off during the collison.
