His mind was in a constant fuzzy state now since his conversation with Elle. There was no doubt in his mind that he didn’t love John, that wasn’t the problem. It was more of the realization that this was getting serious and when things got serious for him that was when things went bad. His grandmother would never approve of him with John, which meant that no matter how much they loved each other it wouldn’t end up with wedding bells. Sometimes having royal blood sucked and wasn’t just a life of gems and glitter. 

Emir tried to push that out of his mind as he knocked on the door to his boyfriend’s apartment. No, this was John’s birthday and he had plans for them. It was time to focus on the love of his life and not the black cloud that seemed to hang over their relationship.

Sometimes he had to take whatever work he could get. This was one of those gigs. Neysa’s birthday was coming up next month and he wanted to get the pre teen the pair of shoes she had been begging him since what it felt like January. It wasn’t a concert at Carnegie Hall or the Royal Opera House but it was income, or at least that was what he kept telling himself as he pushed open the cafe doors. Walking up to the counter, he cleared his throat to ask where he could set up - even though the piano in the corner was the obvious spot - when he paused, turned his head to the side in confusion some when he spotted a familiar mop of brown hair. One he hadn’t seen in almost three years but still. “Alexander...I didn’t know you worked here now.”

Rachel tirou a travessa do forno praguejando. Eram apenas sanduíches, mas pelo menos ela havia cozinhado algo. Não costumava fazer aquilo, e não era por não saber, mas sim por não ter tempo. Porém era sua folga, e John estava vindo lhe visitar. Sean havia viajado a negócios, e Rachel achou que aquele era o momento de dar um tour pela casa para os amigos. Pela manhã, ela havia feito uma recepção para as vizinhas, que ficaram mais do que satisfeitas em poderem entrar na casa dos Judd e agora, receberia o irmão. Por seu John, ela não se preocupou com o que vesteria ou com sua maquiagem. Ele havia lhe visto nas piores e melhores situações, um rosto lavado e um vestido casual não faria diferença.

Quase pulou ao ouvir a campainha soar, correndo até a porta descalça, abrindo a mesma com entusiasmo. — John! — Gritou ao ver o irmão gêmeo, atirando-se nos braços dele. Ela podia ter quase trinta, mas sempre iria se sentir mais jovem perto dele. — Que saudades, lindo. — Distribuiu beijos molhados pelo rosto do irmão, apertando suas bochechas.

Rachel ainda não conseguia acreditar que estava arrumando um casamento, e para ficar ainda mais surreal, era o seu. Não que ela não se imaginasse casando, mas a ideia virar realidade era algo muito fora do normal. É claro que o fato de ela estar morrendo mais ou menos dois meses apressou as coisas, mas ainda sim era tudo muito estranho, e legal. Todos estavam animados, sua família estava em júbilo, a maioria pelo menos. Bem, todos fora John. Ela conhecia o irmão bem demais para se enganar que tudo estava bem. Então foi isso que a fez tirar um dia de descanso e ir visitar o irmão. Se sentia negligente por não dar mais atenção ao rapaz, queria passar mais tempo com ele. Bateu na porta incerta, temendo ele não estar em casa, ou ocupado.
