Ela should have known Mitch’s room would have been bombarded. He WAS the prince after all. She had kept her distance in the hallway outside of his room as gifts were brought in and out and crowned royalty remained by his doorway. It was only after hours had passed and she was ready to leave that she finally noticed him getting some space. She didn’t want to be the one to take that way from him, but she also had to know that he was okay. Even if it didn’t matter to him. Even if she was wasting her time by everyone else’s standard. She cared. She whole-heartedly cared about him and if there was ever a time to show that, it was now. The lost of never seeing him again terrified her, and not because of what it would do to the kingdom or within politics. He was a person, not a bargaining chip. So, tentatively she entered the room - hiding the flowers she brought behind her back. His room were already filled with much more extravagant ones, and it was almost the perfect metaphor. In a room full of rare, elaborate bouquets - she was the gift shop batch.
That didn’t matter though, cause the minute she caught his gaze she breathed a sigh of relief. She dropped the flowers on the stand beside him and wrapped her now free arms around him. It was a tight hug, one where her hands pressed flat against him to make sure he was really there with her. After a minute she pulled back, her hand finding his cheek. “You’re okay.” she breathed, as if she wanted him the reassure her. She kept concerned blue eyes on him, knowing she might be overstepping her boundries. His mother or father or sister could walk in any minute so see her showing much more affection than a casualty would. But again, in times like this she couldn’t hold back how she felt.
“I’m so glad you’re safe.” @itsmitchroux
