Let me say this once and very loud and clear.
If you think that Jax being a trans woman was supposed to excuse all of the actions that she took, and or that her being a trans woman gives transphobes a reason to hate on trans people
Jax isn't my favorite character, and I dislike her as a person greatly, she did a lot of terrible things and hurt a lot of people, but also I can very clearly see the obvious self-destructive tendencies that shape her as a character and lead her to where she ended up. Like the narrative literally punishes her and she dies abstracting, but somehow that still isn't enough for you motherfuckers. You fucking malicious assholes. You childish ingrates. You carceral asinine numb skulls.
The way some of y'all talk, it's like y'all needed Jax to look straight into the camera and say
"the reason why I act the way I do is because I am insecure about my self identity due to a lot of trauma stemming from my parents and the expectations they put up on me, as well as the emotional and mental toll they took on me, so I lash out at others and try to find targets more vulnerable that I am to make myself feel better. I know it isn't right but I am so scared of vulnerability because of the last time I did and how I reacted and a lot of people have been hurt because of it and I cannot bring myself to face it because I don't feel like I deserve forgiveness nor redemption, even from people that do care for me."
You motherfuckers will prop up any problematic white boy that y'all see, no matter how harmful their actions may have been to other people, but the moment you find out that the one you were rooting for is not only not that, but not white, not a man, and not cis, NOW suddenly you all have morality. Now you suddenly all have a sense of right and wrong. But you also suddenly lose your ability to have empathy.
Let's be clear about something, the only reason any of y'all thought that Jax being trans was supposed to be some guy out of jail free card, it's because that's how y'all fucking View the phrase "Hurts people hurt people". That is an explanation of why people act the way they do, not an excuse, but you view it as an excuse and that's how you use it, hence why you think that that's what's supposed to be happening here with Jax. Y'all view the idea of having a sympathetic backstory as an excuse to treat others horribly & that revealing that within a narrative is akin to a redemption arc, which it is NOT. Knowing why somebody acts the way that they do is not excusing their actions. Understanding why somebody acts the way they do does not mean that you are endorsing their actions. That is simply practicing basic empathy.
Also, and this is probably my biggest pet peeve, stop at this stupid ass line of logic that because there's a negative representation of a minority group in media, that that's automatically going to translate to how bigots will treat us in real life. Fiction does not affect reality 1:1 & if you think it does, you are dumb and factually wrong. A negative depiction of a trans person-- no let me rephrase that. A non-positive, tragic depiction of a trans person is not going make transphobia any worse than it already is. There's already laws being put on the books both in the US and the UK against trans people, and it sure shouldn't because Gooseworx created Jax.
The only people that are giving transphobes ammunition is YOU idiots who are going out of your way to harangue a trans woman for not being a positive depiction, for not being a credit to her people, for actually showing that she's human and fucked up and traumatized. Again, I don't even like Jax. I think Jax is an asshole, and I probably would have punched them on one point because they would have said or done something to set me off & I don't like bullies. Even then, I can recognize hurt in other people. I can see when somebody is insecure & trying to mask it in 7,000 layers of irony just to keep from being genuine. I can see the way that Jax treats Ragatha, Gangle and Zooble is a front. It's a mask that's more fragile than the one Gangle wears. But I'm not about to sit here and act like it's perfectly okay for you assholes to harangue this dead trans woman for daring not to be a good person. Fuck you. Fuck you all.
Y'all are more of a problem to the queer community & fandom as a whole than you like to believe and it comes out every time y'all do this bullshit.
