So now that we have established that GameJolt will be the one and only place to play the full version of the "Eternal Frenemies: Return to Eternity" visual novel game, allow me to fill you in on one last feature I plan to implement...
...the GameJolt Login feature!
The GameJolt site has a system where uploaded games can have external "trophies" that logged-in players can earn for their in-game accomplishments. I decided to try and use/modify the Ren'Py API from Github to turn all ten of the full game's achievements into trophies that can be saved and displayed on your GameJolt Profile!
Here's how it works:
I'll make it easy by means of a login option that appears on the main menu regardless of how much you have unlocked. If you want the trophies to sync, you have to login before earning any in-game achievements (in this case, before you start the story).
The login popup will appear with the fields to type in your username and what's called a "Game Token". The Game Token is what allows you to access the API of an uploaded game so that you can get, keep and display trophies to your account. It's a way to let everybody know how much of the game you've played!
You can find it by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner of your screen (on a computer). The drop down menu will say "Game Token" and a screen will come up with your current one and the option to generate a new one (in case someone else tries to use it).
The game will then authenticate your login and if successful, the menu will have a "LOGOUT" option displayed:
I will say that I have not fully tested this, as I have yet to finish and test the game itself but if this works, I plan to implement it in all of my future games as well!
Just to be clear you do NOT need to have a GameJolt account to play and beat the game, you only need it for this little perk if you so choose. Everything in the game is accessible by playing with OR without an account.
If you do decide to make an account, my username there is @e11ed0rad0
