i'm genuinely curious, but why do you ship faberry? i don't mean to sound rude or anything at all, but i don't see how people get into it and was wondering what it's appeal is for you? again, i'm sorry if i sound rude or anything.
It's not rude at all to ask someone why they like something.
For me, I like a story where it's not completely perfect, where there's way more to what you see. Where a pairing has its flaws, but pluses.
Quinn started out as the bully of Rachel, and Rachel started out as the other woman, trying to take Quinn's boyfriend. Quinn drew pornographic pictures of Rachel on bathroom stalls, she got Rachel the things she wanted, even if there was something in it for her, she still did it. She got her the page in the yearbook, she asked Kurt to give her a makeover after Rachel wore a pantsuit, she wasn't angry at Rachel for telling her secret when she could have been. She drew a lot of hearts around a horrible doodle of Rachel. They grew, they grow. They grew to wanting what was best for the other, helping the other when no one else would, when no one else thought to. Quinn slapped Rachel, and Rachel wasn't angry because she cares about Quinn and saw she was hurting, thinking she was nothing more than a pretty face. Quinn does the things Rachel asks, even when it would hurt herself. Quinn tells Rachel she belongs in New York, where Rachel has always dreamed to go, tells her she's talented and will make it. Rachel tells Quinn she's pretty, the prettiest girl she's ever met, but that she's a lot more than that. Quinn is always told she's pretty, people rarely look at what's inside Quinn. A girl who was raised by two alcoholic christian parents, and was thrown out of her home for a mistake that wasn't entirely her fault. Rachel tells her she's a lot more than she knows, because Rachel has always seen that there was more to Quinn. Even when Rachel was bullied by Quinn, she didn't hate her. Never hated her, and still doesn't. Quite the opposite.
Quinn tells Rachel the truth, what she needs to hear, even when she doesn't want to hear it. Rachel never listens, and it's such a terribly tragic and beautiful relationship. Friendship or otherwise. If Rachel did listen, they probably would've been having sleepovers and helping each other with their college applications.
Rachel seeks Quinn out. Quinn has always sought Rachel out. From the beginning it's always been Rachel. I fully believe Quinn loves Rachel, no matter what Glee does or doesn't write I will always believe that. Rachel was blinded by Finn in the very beginning, and she still is. Quinn sits by and watches Rachel become less and less of the girl who put gold star stickers next to her name. But when Quinn sees that Rachel is almost gone completely she stands up and speaks out, even if it might ruin their tentative friendship they've built. "I'm not going to stand around and watch you ruin your life by marrying Finn Hudson."
And then, even when Quinn doesn't support Rachel's marriage, she wants to support Rachel, and ends up in a car accident because of that. Now she's in a wheel chair, and Rachel almost just gave up her dream of New York completely. And, Quinn doesn't blame Rachel for the accident, even when she could.
They make each other better, the want the other to succeed, they're there for each other, despite everything in the past. You see who Quinn really is when she's with Rachel, and you see the Rachel who dreams big when she's with Quinn, when she's not asking about Finn.
Quinn never had high hopes for herself, ever. Rachel changed that.
Rachel needed pushing to write a good song, she needs pushing to get to New York and become the star she should be, and Quinn is that for her.
Quinn is Quinn with Rachel.
Rachel is Rachel when she's with Quinn.
That dynamic, and everything I've written above, is what makes me love the thought, and potential of them.
Catching up on my Dash...
