it’s over. at least, she thinks it is. will is purged and hopper calls to say the gate is closed and the ride back to the byers’ house is quiet at least...so nancy, just for now, wants to believe that it’s really as EASY as it seemed.
even when it isn’t, of course. of course they get back and have to handle billy and the dead demo-dog (dustin’s word) in the fridge. hop lets all of the kids pile into his car to drop off afterwards (she knows mike will insist on staying with el tonight, and somehow doesn’t mind) and then it’s just...THEM.
the byers’ are inside. everyone else is gone, even billy carted off and-. maybe it was presumptuous of nancy to assume riding would steve would happen, would be easier than trying to ride with hopper and all of the kids, especially considering she hasn’t even ASKED him for a ride and now that she can, all that’s coming out is -
“billy did that? your FACE?”
