Merlin had been doing a chore in Prince Arthur’s chambers when a light knock filtered through his humming. Wiping his hands off since being on the floor scrubbing the dirt off the stone, he climbed to his feet and went to open the door. It creaked opened. Seeing Belle standing there, he was a bit shocked she was asking him and not his personal manservant. “I can find time, too. The prince doesn’t exactly give me free time. I do think he is supposed to see Sir Montague tomorrow. I can give it to him then.”

ERIK wasn't quite sure what had compelled him to aid this woman that was being harassed by a brutish man she obviously had no interest in. He had never cared about the plight of strangers before, and yet the sight of the scene instilled anger in him.

PERHAPS his affections for Christine had made him soft. Or perhaps something about the woman's demeanor reminded him of the young soprano. Either way, Erik didn't wish to dwell on it.

" IT was nothing, " Erik replied lowly. The strange man pulled the brim of his hat lower over his face, averting his eyes from the woman's gaze. " I simply have no patience for boorish imbeciles. " He shifted, moving to take his leave. " Bonne journée, mademoiselle... ".
