Fables of the Green Forest 1x14 "Peter the Rabbit of Thorn Estate"

★★★★★★★★☆☆

Similar to–but a little better than–the previous episode. Again, there’s a chase that dominates the first half. This time it’s more comedic than tense. Mean Weasel and Reddy are after Peter Rabbit (so they can have “a feast”). The chase is amusing because Peter is so confident. A bit too confident, as it happens. He needs Johnny to save him in the end. It works better as an episode because it doesn’t lose steam in the second half. And while the fight for survival drives the events, it’s not as dark as Reddy’s solo story last week. 8/10

Fables of the Green Forest 1x13 "A gun in the forest"

★★★★★★★☆☆☆

First half is stronger–more dramatic–than the second half. Reddy the Fox is the focus. He’s been eating the farmer’s chickens again, so the farmer’s son grabs a shotgun and gives chase. Reddy doesn’t understand at first the danger that he’s in, which adds to the tension. Later, an injured Reddy is starving and Granny Fox has no sympathy. The other animals ponder the hunger you feel when you haven’t eaten for days. Eventually, they take pity on Reddy, which takes some of the punch out of an otherwise bleak story. 7/10
