Once upon a time in a fictional land called New York City, fairytale characters live in exile from their world. But don’t mistake these characters for the ones you are familiar with. The system is broken, and heroes and villains alike will do anything it takes to meet their ends. 

There are no happy endings in Fabletown.

Once upon a time, you were born into a happy life. You knew your role, you knew who you were, and you knew your ending. Then the adversary attacked, and purged you and your kind out of your homes. For some, this was a devastating loss of eternal happiness and wealth. For others, it was an opportunity to start again.

This mundane world promises a fair chance for all fables. What you soon come to understand this means, is not happy endings for everyone, but lack thereof. Opportunities are limited in Fabletown. The only thing that seems abundant is poverty and crime, and both are alive in your hidden community. While a few of the Fables have brought enough of their wealth to live comfortably, most turn to black market magic and organized crime to meet their needs.

But the struggle of the individual Fabletown citizen is the least of your worries. The community as whole has started to crack, broken into pieces that refuse to fit together for much longer. The divide has left little room for any Fable to remain voiceless on the matter.

Who will you side with?

Lux – The Light: These characters are the ones with either their hearts or their pockets full of gold. They’ve made well for themselves after their move to Fabletown and are fully invested in their lives there.

Umbra – The Shadows: The characters who accept being in Fabletown, but only because the Adversary is still in the Homelands; they don’t stir up trouble, but they aren’t the first to step up and volunteer for the hard tasks either.

Obscurum – The Dark: Characters who either desire to return to the Homelands or who still carry on as if they were living there; while some have good intentions, they inevitably end up putting others at risk because of their wishes.

We lived as outlaws and phantoms. Until we could make our way here, to this dreary mundane place: the one world the Adversary seemed to take no interest in.

You don’t go to the Trip Trap for the ambiance. You go because you have nowhere better to be.

I’m requesting two familiar faces from the Trip Trap bar in Fabletown. Ever since the Adversary forced them to abandon the Homelands, they’ve been close friends with Grendel. He fights for them, sometimes with them. They can usually forget their differences over the span of a few hours and a round of shots. Just about everything about them is open, including their faces. Feel free to message me and discuss. I would be thrilled to see them in play! HOLLY is the spitfire owner of the Trip Trap. When she fled to Fabletown, the troll sold everything she had to afford her human glamour and bar. A shrewd businesswoman, she’s more fortunate than most fables fighting to stay out of the Farm. Her regulars are close to her heart, which doesn’t have room for much else ever since she and her sister Lily stopped talking. THE WOODSMAN is a tragic hero. He won’t let anyone forget it, or how he saved Little Red Riding Hood from the Big Bad Wolf. Woody is less forthcoming about how he had been scheming to rob Red’s grandmother before accidental heroism found him first. A violent man, he’s fallen on hard times and struggles to support himself with his brawn and outdated fame.

Starting this month, we’re going to be doing sneak peeks of the site. Nothing’s set in stone, but we’re really excited and wanted to share our progress with you all! We hope to announce when we’ll be opening soon, but in the meantime there are going to be pre-opening activities and contests.
