The rapid dicing upon the cutting board filled the room. Mateo remembered a time where he couldn’t even glide the blade as easily as he could now. The feat seemed completely impossible in the eyes of a eight-year old little boy, who found joy in the sound of meat sizzling on a hot grill rather than playing with toys at that age.
“Alright now that we’ve dice the onions…” Much like television chef Mateo enjoyed speaking as if someone was in the room, but it was more so a practice so he wouldn’t lose sight of what he doing in the kitchen. Though the second he heard footsteps he fell quiet, he glanced over his shoulder briefly before turning his attention back to the food on the stove. “If you need the kitchen I’m almost done.”
