From the time Teddy was three he had struggled with type 1 diabetes. His parents made it a big deal that he was taking his medication, which was already expensive enough, and eating right and watching his heath physically more than anything.
Despite being popular, Teddy wasn't allowed to go out with friends much in fear that he might miss or ignore a dose and have a sugar drop or spike while out in public.
One night he snuck out to go to a party and had a little too much fun, He missed the chime on his phone telling him to inject himself with his medicine, causing him to got into acute DKA. He was rushed to the hospital where his parents met up with him and made the decision to have him enhanced to where he could receive his injections without even worrying about it.
he's had it since then, however its not a permanent fix. He still has to go and get it refilled once every so often. And he can sometimes be a bit insecure about it, even though he laughs it off that he's a "Cyborg now and looks bad ass". The first person outside of his family to find out about the enhancement was Billie.

Teddy was born and raise an only child in Huntsville to parents who were good to him and raised him to be a 'Jack of all trades'. However his dad was a mans man and so Teddy came off as the same. Falling into that 'dumb Jock' life style. Being great at sports, dating cheerleaders, never really doing great in school but making it by to stay on the team. He always had a good heart and never treated anyone badly and was friends with pretty much anyone in school and in town. He was always helping where he could becoming a real boy next door type. He enjoyed sports and liked helping his dad out at the local Hardware store in town on weekends but Teddy's true passion was cooking. Every night before dinner he would sneak into the kitchen and help his mom where he could without his dad seeing.
It wasn't until teddy turned 18 and told his parents that he wasn't going to work at the hardware store full time after high school, but instead was going to take a position at the Country roads restaurant. Things started going south. His father told him flat out that 'No son of his was going to cook for a living' That he was to work at the Hardware store.
Teddy ignored his father, moved out that night despite his mothers wishes and took that position. It was just what Teddy needed, even making his way up to manager at the age of 22. Everything was fitting into place, his mother would come over for dinner at his apartment from time to time. On the night before the paradox his mother had begged him to come over to the house for dinner and see his father. She hated how torn apart things were because Teddy had gone and done what he wanted to. Teddy not liking the way things happened 4 years ago either and wanting to make amends with his father he agreed.
Things were going smoothing, until Teddy's father starting talking about how much of a disappointment Teddy was to him. How he felt like he wasn't even his son, Shit really hit the fan when Teddy had mentioned he was seeing another man romantically. That was the final nail in the coffin for Teddy's father. He stood up from the table and left the house too cool off, after all this dinner was suppose to fix things not make things worse. Teddy's mother followed after him to make sure he didn't go and do something stupid. Teddy just sat at the table befuddled at how his father could be so close minded. How his life had gotten to be like this, such a mess. He loved both his parents dearly but if his father wasn't going to budge even after Teddy had been a full adult by now he wasn't going to give up doing what he loved. He began cleaning up the table, make less work for his mother in the end when he heard the huge storm roll in. When his parents didn't come running into the house he started to get nervous. He looked out the window and couldn't see them anywhere. He assumed they had gone into the storm cellar and he didn't want to risk the storm getting worse so he took shelter in the bathroom. When the storm ended and he came out to see it was a new day he wasn't prepared for what he saw next. Both his parents Dead in the front yard, Torn apart and only a shell left. What could do something so horrible to two innocent people? He would later find out about the Monsters, That they were trapped, and that they couldn't contact anyone from the outside world.
Teddy decided it was for the best to leave the Restaurant and take his fathers place as the Manager of the Hardware store. It was the least he could do seeing that majority of the town was now dead and it was only going to get worse from there. Now Teddy is still miserable working there and longs to be back at the restaurant, however he feels guilty for his parents death and feels he needs to make it up to them. If he hadn't dropped the bomb about his Sexuality his father wouldn't have stormed off and his mother wouldn't had followed him. This also caused to Teddy to break things off and hide that part of him even more than he already had before. Hating the part of him now that he felt it was the reason his parents were dead.
Teddy had cleaned out his parents house and moved a lot of their things in to storage at his place. The rest being donated and given to those in need of linens, clothes, tools, and other supplies. The bulk of what he kept being his mothers journals. He didn't think much about them, until one night curiosity got the best of him. A little over ten years after the death of his parents he spent almost all night reading his mothers journals. It was enough to take the air out his lungs. In one of the final journals she had, she wrote about how much Teddy was becoming more and more like his actual dad every day. How she had an affair with Huntville's very own Kieran Barnes or as everyone else knew him as KB. Teddy couldn't believe it. It made a lot of sense Teddy was always told he favored his mother in the looks department and personality wise. Who he thought was his father always seemed to hate that. Now Teddy doesn't know what to do with this information. It's been less a year now and he still hasn't told KB or anyone else he knows. He doesn't know how too and he's scared of what might come of telling the truth.
