Let’s get lost in the woods together🗡🛡

A story from my solo Trip to China in 2018. I think of this story often and reminds that the world is a beautiful place worth fighting for:

I went to the pharmacy today to get something to soothe a mild sore throat and the woman who helped me, about late 30s-early 40s in a dusty, white lab coat with 3 cellphones in her pockets, didn’t speak a word of English. But we have cellphones to translate so all is well! (That’s still absolutely amazing to me.)

But eventually she got me what I needed. All the while her being professional but slightly vexed. Not angry or negative but having to jump through hoops, it can be a bit taxing in a 3 sentence transaction. I asked her how much to take and her app said “10 decades” LOL so we had a laugh and got it straight. She was very sweet and took the time to take care of me so before ending, I typed into my translator app:

“You’re like my mother away from home.”

She looked at me and her smile curled up with a loving, heart filled grin like only a mother could and it was the cutest thing I had ever seen. Like “Of course sweetheart, anything I can do to make you feel better.” and gave me a little bottle of chest rub as a gift to me.

No matter where you go in the world, whether you’re White, Black, Chinese or whatever: Motherly love knows no bounds and that actually blew me away. Thanks Mom, I know your always with me. Love ya❤️🙏

Tumblr Musician Fam - questions for you:

This might be a lofty one but I’ve been digging around in my brain (and my bag of tricks) to move forward in music in a real, solid, tangible, head-out-of-the-clouds mentality. Not just bedroom rockstar/starving artist. I don’t mean any of that in a negative or shoddy light, I’ve talked with many a musician and they feel the same.

In anyone’s experience with music for a living, I mean someone on a major tour, a label or at the very least been paid a decent wage for the music they’ve put out (I consider success as enough to pay a significant chunk of your rent - Not all of it, a water slide and a Lamborghini🤣), I ask you this:

1. What were the steps you took to get where you are?

2. How are you sustaining this model?

3. What were some of the mistakes you fell into?

4. Did you ever have a music manager/agent/team etc... above you to make this dream happen and if so, how did it work and wiukd you recommend?

Thank You for your time and contribution, I know a lot of my friends are great musicians that you don’t get to hear enough of. I feel like this has been kicking around my mind for quite sometime trying to figure it out and I just need to further assistance from the outside world if it’s ever going to be more than that. And I believe it can, so what do you say?
