The elevator doors are ready to close, but there's a straggler to let in. Kanae watches his fellow passengers, human passengers, lend a hand, and thinks nothing of it. He does a double take when he sees who that straggler IS. Under his sunglasses, his eyes widen in horror.

“It’s not my web, I’m not weaving anything,” Kanae says, crossing his arms. “If you want my honest opinion, it’s a beautiful shop, much more beautiful than any department store. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t touch it. I already said, Master Mirumo was unaware any ghouls had businesses here when he made his plans. But it’s simply too late now. You have my deepest apologies, but at the end of the day I am on a tight schedule, and it must go. How much do you want for it. I have been afforded a very generous budget for your compensation, on account of your species. This could be the best thing that ever happened to you, really…!

Uta looked upon the newly created half-ghoul sitting in his studio. Izaya had sought him out specifically, and stopped at nothing until he found him. Uta became increasingly intrigued by the dark haired male who seemed to constantly be in his shadow.
He glanced up from his drawing pad, setting his pencil down. He let out a breathy laugh.
“Izaya-kun, have you known me to be anything but genuine? You’ve mentioned in passing how you always felt as if you never fit in as a human.”
“I was a shitty human.” Izaya said flippantly. “But I always loved humans. I get to love them in a different way now.” He could finally really express himself to them; they were so wonderful. So delicious. It was really more than he’d ever thought to ask for.
His mind and heart had forgotten how to be human a long time ago. Perhaps he saw his “evolution” into ghoul-dom as just the next natural step. He grinned.
“I can’t say I’ve gained friends like I hoped I would. But I like being on this side.” He said quietly. This was good enough. He wondered what Uta would think about something like that.
