I recently have begun to study the different face shapes people can have, and I wanted to show y’all my studies! I browsed the humanae tumblr, which has hundreds of pictures of such a diversity of faces for artists to use as reference.

Many peoples’ faces don’t strictly adhere to a specific shape (I’ve found some that are a mix between two different ones), so a few of these may be questionable. But my point was to help myself and everyone else have a better understanding of facial diversity!

Lastly we have the diamond face shape. Diamond faces usually have these characteristics:

very pronounced / sharp cheekbones that sit high on the face

sometimes has wide jaw

small chin

cheekbones are the widest part of face, with tapering to the forehead and chin

Here we have the triangle face shape. They’re usually VERY obvious. Triangle faces usually have these characteristics:

soft / unpronounced cheekbones that sit high on the face

thin jaw

thin / small chin

higher hairline

forehead is widest part of face, quickly tapers down to chin

differs from heart shape b/c it has narrower chin/jaw and is taller than heart

Next is the pear / inverted triangle face shape. This one isn’t very common, or I couldn’t find any that REALLY fit, but here’s what I have. Pear faces usually have these characteristics:

soft / unpronounced cheekbones

wide jaw

small chin

jaw is widest part of the face; forehead is narrower than jaw

basically the opposite of the heart face

it’s common to look like you have a pear face if you have lots of fat on your face/neck
