Originally the permanent residence pets were just the first subjects we'd experimented on before we opened to clients, now with the influx of people signing themselves up we are left to decide what to do with all these wonderful pets!
Nowadays permanent residence is usually given to subjects that could further our research: those who went through particularly intensive training or modifications, those who are given experimental or rarely used treatment, pets who had a particular background (therefore could be used to study the effects of rewriting on their previous routine)
Another way of being granted residence here is also joining the crew - our staff has to have rigid self control during every part of a subject's stay and misdemeanors are punished heavily, so we have special assistants to help relieve pent up frustrations and keep morale high
Pets can become part of the crew also by helping out in minor tasks and serving at company events, they can also be used as en example to show off our work
Permanent residence pets get their own room and basically anything they'd need to live a nice life as a re-educated subject, depending on cases they have their own care bot or handler- they can also live together
We have specific places for them to hang out and entertain themselves, but depending on the subject and trust given they are also allowed to wander on site along the staff
The bunny girl is a prime example of a permanent resident pet, she was one of the original experiments and is allowed to watch as other subjects are trained. She has access to various machines (and sometimes beta tests experiments) and has her own care bot
