THE STORY :

At four years old, the tribe of the girl who would become Ayanna was attacked by Vampires. By some miracle she was able to hide, hiding herself underneath the corpses of her loved ones, until the Blood Hunt was over. Ayanna was the only one of her people left alive. Left orphaned among the bodies, Ayanna would have starved to death had it not been for human scavengers who took pity on her and took her, along with the resources that they could procure, back to their tribe. Their Keeper Asim, who had lost his wife and children to the Upyr, saw his daughter in her. He took her in and renamed her Ayanna after his daughter.

Being the leader’s new child, Ayanna was destined to take the reins of the tribe. She was groomed to be a leader and it was a role she took to easily; seemingly a born leader. Ayanna was a clever girl who understood how things worked in the world they lived in. Her observant eyes would take in every minute detail and her sharp mind would always analyse things, with new ideas forming and growing with each passing day. Always a storm of opinions, Ayanna seldom hesitated to express what was going on in her head. Often her father would pick her brain for advice for the betterment of the tribe.

As the little bird blossomed into a bright flower, her kind nature coupled with a smart mind and diplomatic tongue made her well loved among the tribe. She knew how to spur people into action with just the right amount of words but she was equally quick to launch into someone’s aid without much care for her own self. Ayanna gained her people’s rightful acceptance as their future leader by putting the interests of the tribe before her own.

Anton Dashep (taken) : Ayanna has great respect for Anton and admiration for all the hard work he had put in on the Wall. She feels bad that it was all to nought as they eventually ended up including the very beings they were trying to keep out. His support and advice are held by her in high regard despite his passive opposition to her move.

Gabriel Albescu (taken) : She trusts Gabriel slightly more than she trusts the temperamental Wolfgang to keep his word. Though, she hasn’t forgotten the way he’d cast her out when she’d approached him with the possibility of uniting three fronts against the inevitable extinction of all. His sudden change of heart has her suspicious of his intentions.

Wolfgang Arcturus-Child (taken) : Ayanna doesn’t trust Wolfgang or the vampires he’s brought along. She’s tolerating their presence in the Sanctuary. Night is as much her friend as it is Wolfgang’s and Ayanna makes it a personal responsibility to keep a watch on him.

Parnus Dark-Child (taken) : The only supernatural being she actually trusts is Parnus. The man had come to the Sanctuary before the Blood-King had accepted her offer and though her cynical side still refrains her from placing her faith in the young-looking man, she does trust him enough.

Somewhat younger than his older brother and sister, Tilden was the baby of the family and was fussed and played with by everyone around him from the moment he was born. It was clear from an early age that Tilden was a soft soul. Left at home with his mother while his father attended work and his siblings were at school, Tilden spent most of his time in the garden with his mother which was where he believes his love of flowers began. Before having Tilden, his mother HANNAH had been a landscape gardener, designing cottage gardens and planting and tending to the most beautiful blooms their village had become synonymous with. THE STORY :

Zak grew up a quiet young boy into a quiet young man. While he preferred to keep to himself rather than play with other children, he was always a hard worker and empathetic to the plight of his fellow people. He never considered it strange that he knew certain things by looking into people’s minds. As their tribe had never seen a Wicked child before, they weren’t looking for any signs of one, and thus his ability stayed in the dark.

When Ayanna was named as Keeper, Zak believed he could trust in his childhood friend to understand that he wasn’t a danger to anyone, and to keep his secret. Ayanna, while surprised by his admission, believed that Zak’s kindhearted nature would win over any evil his magic could bear, and told no one else. When Sanctuary became a home to all species, Zak asked Ayanna to become the Tribe Wicked in an effort to protect his family.

While his status as a Wicked is now common knowledge, his affinity is not. The only one to know Zak is a mind-reader is Ayanna, though the other Wickeds are suspicious of his all-knowing personality. Despite this, he rarely uses his ability beyond when he is asked by the Keeper. Zak is more content to help in keeping Sanctuary safe rather than telling everyone’s secrets to the world, though he is unafraid of using them against someone, showing a darker side to his seemingly innocent nature.

THE STORY :

Venera grew up in the lowest caste of the Upyr Court; her life was to be dedicated to respecting her elders and her betters, while providing food for all. Rapidly disillusioned with her life on the bottom rung, she lashed out at the system that kept her from achieving her true potential. Venera was young when she was jailed for insubordination and sentenced to trial in front of the Bone King himself, and it was in front of Gabriel that Venera made her plea; she wished for the opportunity to prove her power and strength to the entire Court for a chance at his Inner Circle. Gabriel, amused by her youthful candor, agreed to her bargain and set about an impossible task: she was to kill the Blood King Arcturus in single combat.

The upyress knew that it was a goal designed to ensure her death and, by association, stamp out any who believed that they could demand to be treated with respect. It was through cunning and sheer force of will that Venera was able to entrap and kill the old Vampire Arcturus, and her return with his head was heralded as a change for the caste system Gabriel had tried to enforce. Unable to go back on his word, Gabriel gave Venera the position of General and a seat at his table. She was one of the first who volunteered to join him in Sanctuary, refusing to be left behind for lesser men.

Venera’s very existence within the inner circle of the Court is an anomaly. Her family name holds no weight and many claim that no one before her held it, making her equitable to a nobody. But she has proven to be one of the first to get by solely on her own merits, however deplorable her actions and methods may be. Her loyalties are sent through mixed signals and she will play any side she must in order to get ahead.

THE STORY :

Santia thought of herself as nothing but a simple farmer all her life. As a naturally quiet soul, she always preferred the company of animals to people. When Sanctuary opened its doors to the supernatural she was just as afraid as any other Human, but kept out of trouble well enough. It wasn’t until she settled an argument between a Vampire and a Human that she finally became noticed.

A mediator by nature, any conflict that would come into her counsel was sure to be resolved peacefully and equitably. She became the new voice of reason for people who didn’t want to go to the tribunal to settle their petty differences, and was often pulled into fights between citizens of all kinds; Human, Vampire, and Upyr. Though she had always kept quiet, Santia had now become an unofficial court of equality within the community of Sanctuary.

Ayanna, along with the others, has entrusted Santia with an important job that only someone of her caliber could undertake. Because of her fair and level-headed approach, she is entrusted with dealing with the volatile Vampires who are rationed blood from the iceboxes that preserve the human blood for about a week. Her proximity with the Vampires puts her at quite a risk but Santia is confident that she’ll be able to handle the situation.

THE STORY :

Childhood friend of Terasmus, Neyon lost his younger sister in an attack by the Vampires and was never the same. Instead of maturing before his age and taking on a mantle of authority he became erratic, crude, and prone to antics. In a world where children had to grow up too soon, Neyon refused to stop enjoying his life for the sake of everyone else. He had seen how short and uncertain life could be and was determined to enjoy it to the fullest for as long as he could.

He continued on a childish path of recklessness and attitude that caused problems not only for himself but for everyone around him. Finally, Neyon was assigned as a worker to help quell some of his energy, though his consistent shirking of his work did little to help him. It kept him out of the way of Upyr and Vampires looking for trouble, however, and did the job.

It is Neyon’s penchant for trouble that keeps him from realizing his true potential. While Terasmus grew up too soon, Neyon wants nothing more than to continue to be young; often shirking his duties for pranks or to explore the quickly growing town settlement. Some say that it is his way of burying his true feelings about the day that he lost his sister, as if he is in denial about the seriousness of their situation. Instead hiding his broken heart behind the mask of mischief while he stumbles through life. He doesn’t know what to think of their new neighbors, understanding both sides of fear and curiosity from his fellow Humans. At the end of the day the only one he’ll trust is whoever keeps him alive the longest.
