Working at the front counter, Fae had full view of the maybe five people in the library. With finals all but over, the campus could be considered completely barren. She and another girl were getting ready to close up soon, but not before--aha, there she was. Fae wasn’t wondering at all what this girl--Larkspur? Was her name?--wanted, and sure enough, she’d brought to the counter yet again the 2005 edition of Pride and Prejudice, for about the 9th time this month. “So, uhhh. You really like Pride and Prejudice, huh?”
Working at the university library had its perks, and Fae loved finally doing something with her library science master’s. But sometimes working at a library that catered to mostly young people had its cons, and that was why she and Kai were good company. Kai was maybe one of the only people on the isle that understood the job so completely, considering their jobs were very similar. In short, they had a lot of the same things to bitch about.
Fae sat at one of the many tables inside Kai’s library close to closing, looking over the last bits of the yearly budget. Finally seeing him come into view from one of the shelves, she called over to him. “Do you want this coffee?” She held up an extra one she’d brought.
There wasn’t very much Fae had planned while living with her sister on a Greek island, but if nothing else, she could at least try to clear the mystery about who her mother was. Ever since she was very small, her father always talked about Hestia and the story of how Fae came into his life like a fairy tale. Her dad’s stories made it feel like Hestia didn’t even exist, and he was just making up some great thing to distract her. If Aisling’s mother didn’t turn out to be Khione, she’d continue believing the Greek gods didn’t exist.
Fae arrived at the apartment of what she’d heard through the grapevine was another daughter of Hestia. She gingerly knocked on the door, as if unsure about whether she actually wanted to do this. Seeing the door creak open, it was too late to turn back. Regular nerves turned to anxiety as she now worried that she got the wrong apartment, as a man with dark hair appeared in the doorway. “Hello,” Fae greeted. “Uhh, I was wondering if a Chloe Vara lived here? I’m a sister of hers.”
Fae stared down her second glass of beer at her seat at the corner of the bar. She wasn’t even close to drunk, but she wasn’t exactly bored either. From her position, she could get a good look at the guy at the bar counter, who was laughing with a friend. He was handsome, yes, but she couldn’t shake the feeling he was a bit older than she was. Look, it didn’t hurt just going up and introducing herself, she thought. She grabbed her glass and drank the rest of the beer, knowing the small alcohol content wouldn’t do a damn thing for her confidence, but if nothing else, she can’t leave a glass unattended.
“Hey,” Fae said, striding up to him. “My name’s Fae. Are you new around here?”
It had been a long day, and Fae was ready to go home and fall asleep on the girls’ brand new couch. She knew her sister likely already broke it in, and sure enough, as she turned the key and opened the door, she immediately saw Aisling sprawled over it, watching a movie. Sighing, she threw her jacket on the floor and walked over to join Ai on the couch, kicking off her shoes. “Scooch over,” she said. “What are we watching?”
( SOPHIE SKELTON, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER ) ⌇ have you seen FAE COLLINS around icaria? they are the 25 year old child of HESTIA. they remind me of BEING BREATHLESS AFTER RUNNING, FIRE CRACKLING, and PULLING YOUR HAIR INTO A PONYTAIL.
Fae Elizabeth Collins
Age: 25
Birthdate: June 26, 1995
Sexuality: Bisexual
Lineage: Daughter of Hestia
Occupation: Head Librarian of the Icaria University Library
Her father, Will Collins, wanted a child desperately but didn’t necessarily have the means to have a kid, money-wise, and gay-wise. He prayed to Hestia for a family, and she heard his plea, bestowing him with a child. Fae grew up having more of a best friend relationship with her father, than a traditional parent relationship.
Fae was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and moved to Belfast, Ireland when she was eleven, where she lived and later attended uni until she and her step-sister recently moved to Icaria.
So. Her dad Will married Aisling O’Leary’s dad Cillian when Fae was 11 and Aisling was 10. They moved to Belfast so they would all live together. She and Ais grew up going to the same school, and ended up being very close. She had a happy home life and parents who loved each other. At school though, she was bullied for having two dads. She grew to have tough skin, but no matter how hard she tries she can't stop letting things get to her.
While her sister wanted to explore the world, and spends most of her time traveling for her job, Fae is more comfortable staying where she is. She earned her master’s in Library Science while staying in Belfast, and would be content making roots there. However, her sister wanted Fae to move with her to Icaria, and go outside her comfort zone. She agreed only because she was able to attain a position as a librarian at the local university.
She has a tendency to wear her heart on her sleeve, and she's an open book. She’s a bit fiery, but very protective.
