Happy Valentine’s Day!

This is a piece I’ve been working on for a while, but I thought today would be a good time to post it.

After @faehistorian commissioned the chibi of Marsella in a cute wedding dress, I felt inspired and sketched this out, and I’m really happy with how it ended up turning out!

Lately @faehistorian and I have been having continuous brain rot hours talking about an AU where Azul kidnaps adopts Marsella and raises her as a daughter of the Attwood house and I’ve had a bunch of scenarios bouncing around in my head for the past few days.

Marsella had been preparing for this day since she was a child. Stories her mother told her of grand dancehalls and lavish decor filled many a dream while she slept. All the etiquette classes and lessons about the latest trends in the capitol would be worth it for this day.

You see, as a young lady of nobility, it was customary for Marsella to make her debut into high society at the yearly debutante ball. She had missed her chance the previous year with a birthday coming two months after the celebration had been scheduled, but now that her turn had finally arrived she was determined to take full advantage of it.

From the moment she had woken up that morning, her personal maids had taken it upon themselves to pamper and prepare her for the festivities as much as they could. As the evening quickly approached, her maids became more frantic, running around her room like headless chickens.

“I know you’ll do wonderfully tonight,” Azul leaned over and placed a soft kiss on the crown of Marsella’s head. Marsella turned to the dragonfly faery, nervousness very evident in her expression. “Do you remember what I told you?”

“Hold myself with pride and dignity. I am an Attwood, the pen and sword of the crown. A slight against me is a slight against the throne.”

“Very good, sweetie. Would you like for us to wait for Malleus out here with you or would you prefer we enter first?” As Azul took a step back from Marsella, Riddle took his place next to the older woman. 

The brunette shot a quick glare at the boy as he offered his arm to her mother. This would be his introduction in to the high society of the Valley of Thorns as well and she had made it abundantly clear that she had not quite welcoming to her mother’s new partner. It upset her that a knight with such renown as her mother would propose to marry a human who looked like he couldn’t even hold a sword correctly. She would hold her tongue for now though.

“Please go ahead without me,” Marsella fiddled with her thumbs as she looked around for her own partner. “And Rosehearts, make sure you don’t cause any trouble for my mother.”

Riddle silently nodded, not feeling comfortable around his future step-daughter quite yet. Azul reached out to squeeze Marsella’s hand in a soothing gesture before they made their way to the main hall.

“The pen and sword of the crown, Marchioness Azul Attwood and Sir Riddle Rosehearts have arrived,” The attendant by the door announced their arrival as they entered and the thought of the same courtesy being extended to her made her palms sweat under her gloves.

Now as she stood before the doors of the main hall, Marsella couldn’t help her nerves from overtaking her a bit. This was her going to be her first impression on all of the important figures in the Valley of Thorns, and if she had any chance of peacefully ascending to the throne alongside Malleus, she would have to make it a good one.

Another gloved hand peeked into her view, taking her hand an raising it to the person’s lips. Seeing the familiar set of horns eased a few of the brunette’s worries as she moved in closer to the fae prince. 

“You look beautiful,” Malleus offered a compliment to the young woman hoping to help shake off a bit more of her nervous energy. “Will you be alright?”

“I’m ready. Let’s go,” she nodded as she hooked her arm around the prince’s elbow and took a few deep breaths. Malleus could barely hold in the chuckle that threatened to escape him as he gazed down at the determined expression on Marsella’s face. As the approached the door, the attendant that had just announced her mother’s arrival gave the pair a respectful bow before turning to the main hall again.

“The glory of our valley, His Highness Crown Prince Malleus Draconia and Lady Marsella Attwood have arrived!”

Matchup for marsella 👀 with someone that is not the lizard please and thank you

This might sound a little weird, but I’ve thought about it for a bit and I actually think Cater would be a pretty good match for Marsella.

I think their sunnier carefree sort of attitude would mesh rather well and they both tend to have a bit of a flair for the dramatic when they find something they’re invested in. On top of that, both Cater and Marsella have big families, so they both understand the many pros and cons of having siblings.

As stated in the game, Cater grew up with sisters, so out of all the boys at NRC, he’s probably one of the boys that has the best grip on what girls want and when they want it. Growing up in a house with so many women probably has given him at least a base level understanding of what signals to follow when reading them, and it would be extremely useful to have such a skill when dealing with a hopeless romantic like Marsella.

We’ve established in our dm conversations that Marsella would probably like to go around shopping and trying new food places/stalls on her days off, and Cater is one of the guys in the Twst cast that would be 100% down for it. Any and all excursions that Marsella takes him on are prime content for his Magicam, and he’s always on top of what the hottest new food and pop up shop locations are.

There might be a bit of a problem with Cater’s social media addiction since he would be so set on recording the memory while Marsella seems like the type that prefers to live in the moment and not waste so much time trying to show off to random people on the internet. This is definitely something that can be worked on if both of them try to be accommodating to each other.
