9, 18, 30, 41, 47, 59, 66, 83, 84, 85, 90, and 99! (sorry this is so many questions omg)
Thank you! <3 (This post is going to be very long…)
9: do you like singing/humming to yourself?
I don’t, which might be odd when I’ve sung in choirs and church services for a long time. It’s not something I ever thought of doing.
18: tell us about something dumb/funny you did that has since gone down in history between you and your friends and is always brought up.
I haven’t kept in contact with anyone in school before college, so there isn’t anything to ‘go down in history’ when there’s no real history to begin with. With the few friends that I’ve known for more than 5 years, the fun memories are largely theirs to create.
30: think of it: have you ever been truly scared?
After certain horror movies which will not be named, yes.
41: what’s the last book you remember really, really loving?
I checked goodreads and the last one I marked as a favourite is Interview with the Vampire. And that was three years ago…
47: what food do you think should be banned from the universe?
Cilantro/coriander.
59: what’s your favorite myth?
What comes to mind isn’t a myth but a folktale, ‘Sang Kancil and the Crocodile.’ Kancil means mouse deer (I think it’s Malay/Javanese). It is a trickster figure, sort of like a non-malicious Loki, and there are a few stories of it outsmarting other animals or solving problems creatively. In this particular story, it manages to cross a river of crocodiles by outwitting them. Not going to spoil it for anyone who may be interested; Reimena Yee has done some vivid illustrations for the story (check them out)!
66: what would your ideal flower crown look like?
Violets, bluebells, threaded with silvery-grey moss.
83: what’s some of your favorite album art?
Can’t think of any, sorry.
84: are you planning on getting tattoos? which ones?
I have been thinking about it for the longest time but I can’t decide where would be the best place for them; they need to be hidden in office attire and at formal events. I want a wolf, maybe just its skull, in the darkly surreal style of Em Patridge or Faunwood’s illustrations.
85: do you read comics? what are your faves?
Not as much as books, and I depend on recommendations as I’m not an active seeker.
I’ve read some Star Trek (as part of the fandom) and I like the newer editions as they’ve updated the comics by using the reboot cast. I have enjoyed Watchmen, Homestuck, xkcd, the graphic novel of Interview with the Vampire by Ashley Marie Witter, and Through the Woods by Emily Carroll.
90: talk about your one of you favorite cities.
I’m not much of a traveller but I have been to and love Hong Kong. The food is wonderful and the best ones are not difficult to locate online and on the map, the weather in winter is mildly cold (perfect), and it is so interconnected that getting around on foot and by train isn’t difficult at all.
99: list some songs that resonate to your soul whenever you hear them.
Adele’s ‘When We Were Young’, Joanna Newsom’s ‘Sapokanikan’ and ‘Time, As A Symptom’, Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘The Sounds of Silence’, Vienna Teng’s ‘Never Look Away’, her cover of Damien Rice’s ‘Cannonball’, Patrick Wolf’s ‘Teignmouth’ (the version from ‘Sundark and Riverlight’), The Carpenters’ ‘Yesterday Once More’, God Help The Girl’s ‘A Down and Dusky Blonde’… this list will go on forever if I think about it any longer.
