After a long trek home from the temple, Samuel is more than happy to be greeted with the cooing sounds of Nala. He soothes her to sleep while daydreaming about the artifacts he discovered.
Samuel gazes in wonder at the size of the temple and marvels at the creation of it. Certainly robots had to have helped them? It is hard to envision organic creatures having the capability. Still, the skeletons do look quite strong... He finds many artifacts but ends up leaving with more questions than answers.
Samuel can't wait any longer and decides to venture into the jungle and finds old ruin gates that lead him further towards the temple.
The routine that had developed with the robots in their early days has changed a great deal with the arrival of Nala, who they discover is a female alien life form. They are still unsure of why she appeared in such strange circumstances, but she is already in good (robot) hands.
Harold starts making a second set of clothes for the chickens even though they are still too young to wear them. Samuel gains the reputation of being a bit of a loner as he hides and reads books about robotics for the better part of a day.
Daily activities at the house resume a familiar pattern with a small organism in the temple and the shared duties of looking after baby Nala go without complaint.
Meanwhile Samuel finally uncovers and identifies his first artifact...he feels he is growing closer to gaining knowledge about the previous human inhabitants of the jungle.
Octavia takes the role of caring for Nala quite seriously, but the others are just as up to the task. Harold quickly creates a makeshift play area for Nala when the robots are busy doing research and caring for their plants and baby chicks.
