Hello, welcome to my little world of pixel families and their whimsical lives... I mostly post about my Sims 4 saves here, but will occasionally post about other games as well. I have a soft spot for all things wholesome and cartoonish. My blog is SFW!

I recently noticed that two of the chimneys that came with the Adventure Awaits expansion pack despite looking like chimneys, and being named chimneys, are not technically considered chimneys by the game.
In short, chimneys in The Sims 4 are meant to output a smoke effect when a fireplace on the lot is active. These two Adventure awaits chimneys do not do that. At all.
And the best thing? Maxis did this AGAIN in the Royalty & Legacy expansion pack! Yet another chimney that doesn't work...
So I went ahead and fixed them.
But I also did a few other fixes as well...
More info and the download under the cut.
The three mentioned chimneys were lacking the required tuning and smoke effect slot, so I've added them.
While doing this little project, I also noticed that two of the Cottage Living chimneys had their smoke effect placed at the base of the chimney, rather than... well, where the smoke would actually come out. So I fixed that.
I also managed to make the second chimney output the smoke in a split stream, which should go in accordance with its design.
That then prompted me to do the same thing with the Growing Together chimney as well:
Oh, and the taller Discover University chimney had a misplaced slot for its smoke effect too. Huh. Well, you can consider it fixed!
PHEW.
Anyhow, I better go make a bug report on these, but for now the fixes should do the job just fine.
I've edited the 'Slot', 'Rig' and 'Object Definition' resources of these chimneys where it was needed. The three previously non-functioning chimneys required new and unique 'Slot' and 'Rig' resources as well.
This will not make the affected chimneys appear as custom content in your game.

Does anybody else struggle to handle pet deaths in Sims 4? I literally can't allow them to die cause emotionally it just sends me over the edge. I hate losing pets in real life and don't want to experience it in games.
This is a cute small one bedroom, one bathroom castle built to celebrate the new expansion pack and all the royal vibes coming with it. I was always a bit scared of building castles because they seemed so complicated, but 2026 is the year I learn and build more of them. Cozy, fairytale-like, and perfect for a single Sim living their best little royal life. Hope you will enjoy! x
The Summerdream home sits atop a small ringed hill, next to an enchanted pond. It's much smaller than the fantastical palace Titania and Oberon are used to in their own realm, but needs must when they are living among mortals.
It still stands out amidst the other houses in the area; numerous spells have been placed on it so most mortals only see a standard thatched roof house. Only Hermia Capp has been allowed to see its true form thanks to Puck, and she is good at keeping secrets.
The naturally growing vines indoors grow through Titania's magic, no watering needed. She likes to think of this place as a seasonal family cottage whenever they want to escape to the mortal realm for a century or two, though she has the feeling she'll have trouble convincing Puck to move back to the fairy realm as he grows more attached to his mortal friends.
Daily activities at the house resume a familiar pattern with a small organism in the temple and the shared duties of looking after baby Nala go without complaint.
The work room at the temple is always bustling with activity. Brunhilda observes samples of the fruits from the ancient temple. Samuel tries to excavate some of the artifacts he found... and funnily, Octavia seems to think she needs a welding mask to protect her robot eyes.
Harold has nearly finished his mural... I'm sure he will be sad when he runs out of places to paint. Brunhilda continues to smother the baby chicks with love.
Mortimer is a second-generation Prussian-Simerican. His parents came over to the states in the 1850s and primarily worked in printing German-language newspapers. He followed suit in his own way and now works in the writing career, hopeful to write the next great Simerican novel.
Bella is a first-generation immigrant hailing from Italy. She met Mortimer by chance in the 1860s while he was covering the Italian Kingdom's creation in 1861 and the battles that ensued after. They quickly eloped and moved back to the states once her parents discovered their relationship.
