Children are always watching.  What will you show them? Through the Fostering Wishes for Children program, licensed foster parents in New Jersey can gain $75 grants, one per child annually, to help their kids’ wishes come true.  These grants can be used to promote feelings of belonging by helping them to partake in class trips or dances; they provide opportunities to develop talents that build self-esteem; or they can help improve physical fitness by allowing them to partake in sports.   Take advantage of Fostering Wishes for Children today!

FAFS teamed up with the students of Ramsey High School to make birthday cards to send to foster children as part of FAFS' We Heart Birthdays program. This new program gives gifts to foster children on their birthdays. Students from Ramsey High School chose to come to school on Martin Luther King Day for a day of service. They volunteered their time to decorate the cards and write heartfelt messages to the children receiving them.

A local woman started the Lil Lovvies Project to give back to charitable organizations.  This September, she organized a Trike-A-Thon and got the kids to come together and burn some rubber for a good cause!

(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGSgGXFxD1c) Allegra Marketing in Princeton helped us put together a bunch of backpacks for foster kids for the back-to-school season.  Here’s a video about their efforts, and our Backpack Program. FAFS’ Backpack Program was born from the images of children being removed from their homes for reasons of abuse or neglect with their belongings placed in trash bags. 

Today, backpacks for foster children in NJ are given by their foster parents as a gift to welcome foster children into the foster home. 

The Backpack Program:

-  Comforts NJ children in foster care by providing them with personal items such as a stuffed animal to cuddle, new pajamas and school supplies to ease the transition into the foster home
