fai’s not really the competitive type; he’s fine just being admired without having to do anything.
as a mudkip, jaebum grew up with two other shiny starters who were later traded. fai the grovyle was traded to a rather wealthy pokemon collector and has quite the luxurious life, while shinji the combusken was traded to a trainer who lost him to a team rocket member in a battle. he is now used in underground (and very illegal) cockfights (or the pokemon equivalent) where he lost one of his arms. jaebum and fai regularly keep in contact, but their connection to shinji was lost after his change in ownership.
