When finding out that Amazon *did not* deliver the Christmas presents you bought

Arrrgh. ARRRGHHH. Arrrrrrghhhhh.

Let's rewind to the end of November, when I went on an online Christmas gift shopping spree. "I am so clever," I said to myself, happily picking presents in the warmth and comfort of my room. "Buying Christmas presents now, rather than going to the mall! Genius! And ordering them in November guarantees that there will be plenty of time for them to arrive before Christmas." Since I generally don't like going to shopping malls, especially when they're crowded, online shopping was perfect. Afterwards, I smugly thought of all those disorganized suckers who just didn't have the foresight to plan in advance. 

Until I got a message two days ago from Amazon saying that the packages I ordered were delivered back to the warehouse and a full refund was issued to my credit card because I put in the wrong postal code. This is what happens when I am living in three different cities! 

This also means I am going to have to - sigh - hit the mall a mere four days before Christmas. And because some of the stuff I bought were specially ordered, I bet I won't even find them in the mall. 

I wonder how folks feel about gift cards.

So I wasn't at home on the 25th when my package arrived.

They left me a notification with my DHL EXPRESS Reference Number So I set up a second delivery date for today before 12°°

No one came. So I'm heading online at 12:10 to check the tracking info, not expecting it to be up to date...

So what they are telling me is that they couldn't deliver it at ten 10:30 because they didn't find my house/name on the doorbell, which they DID find on the 25th?

Called Customer Service, package is back at the station. I will take the bus to pick it up...

I mean I worked in postal business too. I know Monday is a shitty day because of the packages left over from Sunday when there is no delivery AND the new ones from Monday. I know that sometimes it gets so much it's not humanly possible to even load them all in your car and you still have to do. There are tricks and usually they work out because people really aren't home... I don't know what would be worse though... the guy really being too stupid to find my address... Or the guy being so stupid to mark a shipment "Address not found" that has been specifically arranged for a second delivery attempt. Where it is clear that the recipient lives at that address and WILL be home...
