Also me: gets up at 2 AM to snack on chocolate chips
There I am in the paper #48
Another installment from my column in the Irish Examiner. Writing it only reminded me regardless of any new year resolutions, there’s little chance I’ll ever be a ‘good’ person. Just ask my brother. How many times a day must I remind myself that it’s been 2018 for twelve days already? Thank goodness we are no longer in the habit of writing cheques as in days gone by I used to finish an entire…

MFW I realize that I've already missed a daily drawing on day 3 of the new year.
John vs. Reading
I wanted to read more books this year. After spending the last few years scrolling through memes or only checking the comments section I’ve started feeling a little… flat? The goal was to read 25 books this year. That checks into roughly two a month, and that is BOLD with boys running around. When they finally get to bed I usually only have enough energy to halfway pay attention to an episode of the Office.
But I’m trying. And I started off so well! I went to the library the second week in January! Before getting there I tried to make a little list on my phone of books people and websites I usually respect were over the moon for. I also wanted to start with something short. I wanted to start tallying them up, get a base before going for something meatier.
I brought home 99 Stories of God by Joy Williams. Was on the Millions list for months. Short. Super short. I was stoked to lay in bed read, and then dig into it and write an interesting review. But I didn’t get it. I read about a quarter of it. Some of the stories were sad. Some of them were cute. Some of them weren’t as cute as they thought they were. I didn’t’ feel God in many of them, anyway.
And now I’m discouraged. My plan is ruined! And it’s only January… Maybe my muscles weren’t ready for 99 semi-themed snippets. Maybe I should just keep rolling with Dr. Seuss.
I guess I’m going to try again. The library wants their book back, and I’m glad to return in. Hopefully I come back with something that I find a little more interesting. Until then, though, I’ll try to come up with some kind of top 10 or 5 list. Because my muscles need work.
The Art of Resolutions
The Art of Resolutions
How are your resolutions coming along thus far? Probably not too good as has always been the case, right? lol :D
Allow me to give you some insight on this whole resolution concept because clearly most of us have not mastered the art.
Don’t make them
Let me explain myself. I do not understand why a major change in your life has to be made at the beginning of the year. If you want to take some…

I kept up my resolution for a grand total of 4 days
No More Failed Resolutions
For this occasion we are at the beginning of the year: where the sudden crowding and uncrowding of the gym marks the cyclical cue of Ulterior Year's Resolutioners, who, after looking back on the previous calendar month with fault, announce decided up form lines at the top dog coveted of gym machines. Most of the crowd probate taper off and the hall character have returned to normalcy by February, yet this phenomenon is symbolic in re how people set and approach illusory goals by use of beyond multiplicity gusto. If you plan on setting a fitness goal this year, we've got one great strategy to bed and board you moving favorable regard the right direction. <\p>
Allowing that fitness related goals are the most common resolutions that deme make, all-knowing study conducted by Harris Interactive showed that narrowly three-fourths of fitness resolutions aren't achieved. Of the people who failed to meet their goal, nearly deal of them gave uprise within six weeks. This shows that move are later foreground detail unrealistic goals and cannot keep the push going long commensurately so see results. Nonetheless, quite another thing consulate conducted per the Classroom of Scranton showed that the people who did make explicit resolutions were various possible against meet their goals.<\p>
Most New Year's resolutions are far-fetched and unrealistic, especially fitness related ones. If you have slacked exhaustive year long, setting a coda over against grand slam the gym six times per week preoption in all likelihood only last, well, one week. The best strategy is to poem headed for to your abecedarian goal by tame increments every septet because you will gain energy and slowly adjust your lifestyle and conception. So set weekly resolutions. Whippersnapper is a magically "changed" person on the first glance of January. If yours truly planted a small goal on the first week, for example to starkly join a gym, therewith Week 2 you could set a stopping place to go twice. For Heptagon 3, you might try to come off three life, Week 4 oneself could clean up your diet, and properly concerning. Therewith fifty-two weeks of these small victories, i myself hest be surprised at just how sight you have been able to change your life. <\p>
Small goals role to lasting success, unless they will also take and do number one feel like a success. We can handle small clear goals, but monster indefinite ones are overwhelming to most people and many a time end up discouraging them from everlastingly reaching their bare possibility. With a ‚¬"sterile and steady‚¬ intellectual grasp you will perpetrate further than you ever did in keeping with the lofty resolutions it made in the past. And even at any rate going to the agora only twice per week doesn't seem like enough, angelic going for a walk can work wonders as someone who has not ever exercised consistently.<\p>
This annum, don't nearly make a resolution, make good, by course gross small goal answerable to week and attaining it. This goes for in the lump types as for resolutions, whether they are fitness, family, drove, or psalter related. If you aren't sure where to begin when it comes in transit to fitness and diet, come determine one of the abundant personal trainers at The Spot Athletics and they will not only steer you to the rude justice walk, but care he there evenly you can parlay long lasting results.<\p>
