Silly D&D moment

Our group has to sneak past some cultist guards.

I go first, but fail a sneak roll

DM rolls for the guard that spotted me

DM rolls a 1

Guard sees me and says “Wow, that’s a funny looking squirrel”

Friend tries to help me and rolls to sneak too, but fails.

DM rolls for the same guard

Guard squint and stares at my friend

...

DM had rolled a 1 again. Guard says “Aww look, another funny looking squirrel. There must be a family near by”

We just .. walked past him. I still think fondly of that poor guard.

DND highlights so far

So I originally had made a one off but my players have exceeded the 3 hour time frame I thought it was going to take and they’re only half way through, but REALLY enjoying it so we will be continuing it in another session.  But my favorite parts so far; Tabaxi Monk with proficiency in perception and high dex save FAILED a perception check to listen in on some IMPORTANT mumbles so he heard NOTHING. Our Drow, like literally every time she talks, she’s straight forward as heck and taps people’s shoulders so she ALWAYS scares the NPC’s.  Like, imagine your sitting around minding your own business then a complete stranger grabs your shoulder and is all “HEY I GOT A QUESTION.” Our Dwarf failed the first investigation check, same with the rest after, so THEY ALL MISSED OUT ON A SUPER IMPORTANT CLUE. Everyone loves my NPC Pam.  She old.  She homeless.  She nuts.  She bebe. And they’ve figured out it’s vampires doing shit.  ALL WITHOUT INITIATING A SINGLE FIGHT YET. And best yet, I still have them fooled as to what the big picture is.  eu e
