I feel like the first date would be pretty chaotic. His whole life is kind of chaotic after all. I headcanon him as super nervous at first, he really likes you and is afraid to mess things up. The only way he can think to ask you out is taking you on a mission, since you're an avid spirit lover. So when you arrive,

Reigen is a nervous wreck. It's about ten minutes before you and Reigens "date" and he's sweating out of his mind. he has no idea what he's gotten himself into, but he reminds himself he's doing all this because he loves you, and he wants you to finally know that.

he's loved you for years, since the day you first moved into the apartment next to his. taking an interest in his sketchy "job" and just him in general.

he fixes his shirt and tightens his tie, wondering if he's wearing the right things, asked you the right way, and if this is even what you want.

Reigen jumps up as he hears a knock on the door and takes a deep breath, before sprinting over to open it.

"afternoon, dear Y/N!" he exclaims with that same charismatic face he throws on for the clients.

"hey Rei! you ready?"

you smile and clasp your hands together.

"i'm so excited to get to spend some time with you!"

your words have him flushed as they leave your lips, and he quickly takes your hand, trying to take the attention off of his face.

what was he doing? he hadn't even realized that he had grabbed your hand. you squeezed his hand reassuring him that it was okay. you both make your way out of the building and walk down the street, headed towards the community fair that had been set up earlier in the week.

it was the first few days of the fair, and Reigen had a client come in, talking some nonsense about some dirty sewer rat spirit that was scaring away all of the paying customers.

"i've always found spirits to be so incredible!" you smile, now holding onto his arm.

"incredible.. ha. hardly. when you've been ex-or-cizing spirits and yokai for as long as i, Reigen Arataka, the new star of the paranormal world, has been, they just feel average."

"wowwww! you're really amazing Reigen!"

he blushes and looks away.

"no need to be all cheesy now, Y/N.."

"sorry! i'm just so excited to really see this! i haven't been on a cool adventure like this in who knows how long..."

you see a few people run out of the fair screaming and look up to see that you've finally arrived.

"n-no! wait! come back! c'mon free cheese fries on the house...! ugh..."

some guy dressed in a striped suit and little hat chases after them, trying to get them to stay, but sadly gives in.

"Sir! Reigen Arataka, here and ready to ex-or-cize this proclaimed rat spirit that seems to be haunting this very fair."

"oh thank heavens you're here!"

the man seems grateful, showing you both in and telling Reigen all about the spirit.

"He's been moving all over, maybe to keep from being found, but i can't seem to find him for the life of me!"

"mhm.. where was the last sighting of this rat spirit..?"

"u-under those bleachers in that corner.."

"of course. well. since you said he has been moving we will start in the neighboring areas and move back to that place."

all of a sudden, Reigen became serious, the intensity of the situation heightening and everyone tensing to his reaction.

"we may not make it back alive Y/N... are you ready..."

".....i think so?"

"please stay here sir.. i can't have the client getting injured.."

the man nods and steps back as you and Reigen enter the park and look around the fair set up.

Reigen takes your hand and freezes in his tracks. you look around concerned and ready.

"do you see something Rei?"

"i think i see something in the concession stand... OH NO I THINK HE'S POSESSED THAT ELDERLY WOMANS CHILLI DOG!!"

Reigen runs off and you chase after, giggling and ready to pounce on the chance to capture a photo of a spirit.

it's now hours later and you and Reigen have annoyed interrogated almost everyone in the park and there is two places left that you haven't checked. the legendary bleachers themselves and the ferris wheel.

you're holding Reigens arm and eating some cotton candy that he "confiscated" from the concession stand earlier. Reigens nerves have calmed a bit and you're both really enjoying yourselves. you're both sweaty messes that have been running around looking for some bleacher rat, but you were doing it together, and that's what made it fun.

you both hop on the ferris wheel and look around.

"we'll probably have the best view from up here! maybe we can see where he's at and then get him! ...... Reigen..?"

there's so much to see, but still, Reigen stares directly at you like you're more beautiful than any view.

you turn red and look away.

"Reigen.. we can look for the rat from up here.."

"y-yes of course!! my apologizes, he must have possessed my ability to move for a moment!!"

you gasp.

"he could be in here!" you shout as you shoot up, standing to get a better look.

"h-hey careful Y/N. that's dangerous.. you could.."

all of a sudden the old rickety ferris wheel comes to a hault and you stumble across the floor.

Reigen grabs onto your waist quickly and tightly and pulls you down onto his lap.

"A-ah.. sorry about that.."

you nervously scratch your head and smile.

"Y/N.. you really should be more careful."

your faces are inches apart, and you notice his hands shake.

"Rei.. are you scared of heights?"

He nods no slowly and puts a hand to your chin pulling your face in. His breath is heavy on your face, and he stops for a moment.

"I um.. really like you Y/N. you're beautiful, interesting, and kinder than anyone. can i kiss you right now?"

His mind and heart are racing at a thousand miles per hour.

did he really just ask that? God, he's so stupid. you were probably just being nice and now he has to go and ruin it by being weird and now he-

his thoughts are cut off and his eyes widen as he feels your lips sweetly press onto his. and for a few moments, the world stops, and he never wants this moment to end.

the ferris wheel begins to move again as your kiss stays complacent on his lips and you wrap your arms around him.

you pull off and plant a sweet kiss on his forehead.

"i like you too Rei. im really enjoying our date.. i feel like you really get me and- HEY I SEE THE FUCKING RAT OH MY GOD I SEE HIM."

the ferris wheel barely hits the bottom as Reigen practically jumps off and drags you with him, running towards the group of screaming people who came out from under the bleachers.

"DIRTY SEWER SPIRIT! I, THE NEW STAR OF THE PARANORMAL WORLD, WILL ELIMINATE YOU!"

Reigen shouts as he stands face to face with a 6 foot, fat, dirty rat.

the rat blows its nose before looking at you and Reigen.

"HA! stupid human.. i am the great marcus cheese the king of the sewers. or i once was.. i died by choking to death on a half eaten corn dog that someone threw in the sewer!"

you stand behind Reigen and he puts an arm out, shielding you.

"i will continue to reign down on you humans and curse you to be thrown in the sewers just like i once was!"

the rat charges you and Reigen grabs a bag of salt, whipping it at the rat and screaming something about a salt splash.

the rat shrieks in agony as its shrunk down to the size of an average rat.

"wait master. before.. you.. exorcise him i would like to give him a cup of water. so he isn't left to continue his choking in the after life."

the rat smiles and then disappears into thin air.

"mob? what are you doing here!"

Reigen is sweating bullets, mob wasn't supposed to let his presence be known. He had just bought him, Ritsu, Teru, and Shou some tickets and asked mob to check up on him every now and then and make him look cool in front of you.

"Hello Y/N."

"Hi mob!" you smile sweetly.

"I was just passing by because Master Reigen bought me and all of my friends fair passes, and wanted to thank him for saving my grandmas cat from a tree yesterday! .... thank you Master!"

"O-of course! you're welcome mob.. heh.. just doing what i do best and saving the world!"

Reigen nervously wipes his forehead. You all walk out and mob catches up with his brother and friends.

"Reigen! thanks for buying me that ferrari!"

"I saw you help walk an elderly woman across the street the other day! what a gentleman!"

"thanks for saving my pet fish from drowning you con-"

"Ristu!"

"Hey i'm just being ho- MPH STOP"

Teru shoves popcorn in Ritsus mouth and laughs as they walk off.

"fish can drown?"

"don't worry about that."

"well, i really enjoyed our date Rei.. i hope we can have another.. and i didn't get any photos.. but oh you were so cool!!"

you gush, making him all embarrassed.
