More than 1,000 protesters gathered in New Bedford and Fairhaven to denounce the president’s policies on immigration and the government’s at
We attended the Fairhaven event which drew more than a thousand people. When it was over we drove by the New Bedford rally which had about 350.
New Bedford officials corralled their rally into a tiny park on a side street across from a small beach. There was very little traffic there, no big trees to block the rain, and a cold damp wind off the water whipping the attendees. Kudos to them for sticking it out for six hours in those conditions with almost no foot traffic and very little vehicle traffic. The Fall River attendees were even less than New Bedford and these two cities each have populations in excess of 100,000. The Fall River attendees were corralled into a grassy area alongside a highway ramp at the very edge of the city. Kudos to the handful of patriotic citizens that stuck it out there as well. All in all Massachusetts had over a hundred rallies with the majority of them exceeding expectations. Nearby Rhode Island also had many rallies including two significantly large one in Providence.
ICE has a very, very active facility in New Bedford that’s been making the national news for their abductions of people right off the street. They’ve always been brutal there, even before Trump. Fall River is so pathetic even the lowlife Nazis from ICE won’t go there.
Sometimes the depressed old mill cities of New Bedford and Fall River can really suck. They’ve both been run by crooked local politicians, Mimi-Trumps, since we ejected King George III from North America.
