i realized i was a trans guy by talking to other trans guys and being like "thats how im feeling." I started to talk to them bc one of my trans friends told me she thought what i was feeling could be gender dysphoria, but without talking to other trans guys and spending more time with boys my age, i wouldnt be able to say im a boy esp bc i like wearing stereotypicaly feminine things and was told that gender is stereotypes. People who think trans people are trans only bc of stereotypes confuse me

Let it be noted that estrogen doesn't cause femininity. Low testosterone levels does. That being said, I have heard that people have become more dysphoric on certain hormone-related birth controls, so check with your doctor to see which ones could cause increases in anxiety, depression, and/or dysphoria. Those are the ones that it would be best to stay away from.

Thank you! That actually makes a lot of sense. I guess my biggest problem is that our society lumps sex and gender as the same thing. While I see them as closely related and intertwined, there is a difference between the two. So your description makes a lot of sense to me. And about the political label thing, there are people who say they are trans just because they do not like their assigned gender rolls. It's a small percentage, but they do exist.

I'm glad I could help. As for the political label thing, that just... sounds like a bad idea all around, saying you're trans because you don't like your assigned gender role means taking on a HUGE amount of scorn, hate, and danger. I honestly can't see anyone doing that, but I imagine that it does happen. I would encourage these people to look closely at their gender, but I would not encourage taking on the trans label unless they were absolutely sure that their gender was not the one they were assigned at birth.-Mod Istalir

Hey! ^w^ I just wanted to ask you somethings. I saw that you said that you believe people who do not have sex dysphoria can still be transgender. Why is that? What do you think makes someone transgender then? And how do you feel about people using transgender as a political label? Sorry for all of the questions. Nah, not a problem. Now, quick disclaimer; I am but one mod, pandora may have a different opinion, but this is mine. I believe that you don't have to experience sex dysphoria to be trans, because, genitals have nothing at all to do with gender. Beyond our binary based society forcing certain genders to be associated with a specific genital arrangement. What I think makes someone transgender, is the conscious thought out realisation that one is not the gender one was assigned at birth, and the acceptance of that as fact. As for using transgender as a political label... I actually have no idea what you mean here. >.>-Mod Istalir
