Mateo was uncomfortable. The suit that Elle had bought him was hot and he’d still yet to get used to the perfect kind of tailoring that made his movements stiff. He also now felt a new appreciation for her - the smalltalk and schmoozing she was doing at this charity gala was exhausting and it wasn’t even him doing the talking. He was just there to look good on her arm.
It was ridiculous to complain even for a second, he knew. And Mateo was proud of her - Elle effortlessly glowed as she moved from group to group, smooth talking donations from wealthy nobles for her cause. This was just... hard to get used to. He thought of either of their beds and how much nicer it’d be to be home watching a stupid movie while they were curled up with each other.
“It’s a sad thing to see a pretty boy all alone and without a drink in his hand,” a domme purred from beside Mat. He’d been distracted watching Elle’s face light up with joy, no doubt after soliciting another donation, and seeing her happy had made the discomfort he felt all worth it.
“Oh, uh, it’s okay, ma’am. Really. I, uh, I ain’t drinkin’ tonight,” Mateo replied, turning his attention to the domme beside him. He wasn’t sure when he’d drink again, or if. His last binge had been a disaster and he swore he’d never put Elle through seeing him in such a state again.
“Well isn’t that a pity. You look like you could use a drink. First time at one of these things?” she asked, reaching up to tease the ends of his hair.
“I-I’m fine, ma’am. Really. But, uh, yes - it is. My first time here, that is,” Mateo replied, feeling a familiar blush bloom across his cheeks as the domme began to curl his hair around her finger.
“Well, I do love first-timers. Why don’t you come sit over at my table and I’ll keep you company...” The domme’s hand slid more into his hair, her long nails scratching against his scalp.
“O-oh, no, ma’am, I’m here with my domme, actually. Miss Elle Capulet,” he stuttered out, surprised at how freely she touched him.
“Well, well - what another pity then. And here I thought I could have you all to myself tonight.” The domme’s hand slid from his hair to brush against his cheek before she turned to leave him alone. Mateo sighed, grateful she left without much of a fuss, then turned his attention back to Elle.
